  4. USSD • Real time exchange of text-based data between a mobile device and a network server. • Compatible with GSM USSD servers. • Mobile or network initiated. • Transmitted on a traffic channel or access channel. cdma2000 Technology Workshop

  6. Location Based Services • Control Plane • Provides position to a network application (e.g. 9-1-1). • User Plan • Uses IP to provide location to the mobile device (or network application). cdma2000 Technology Workshop

Short Message Service (SMS) • SMS includes text messages and various non-real-time, low bandwidth data services (such as LBS session initiation). • Three solutions: • Traditional circuit-switched SMS (ANSI-41/SS7) using C.S0015 message format. • Transport level mapping using IMS and C.S0015 message format. • Application level mapping using an instant messaging client. • All solutions inter-operate cdma2000 Technology Workshop
