  2. Two Grants Available Each Year: • St. Francis Xavier Home Mission Grant • Spring Grant Allocation Process • Growth and Expansion Grant • Late Fall Grant Allocation Process

St. Francis Xavier Home Mission Grants • Annual Funding for these grants come from 2 sources: • St. Francis Xavier Home Mission Endowment which was established as part of the Legacy Capital Campaign • 5% annual distribution based on 3-year average balance • March 31, 2011 Endowment Balance $4.1 million • Christ Our Hope annual appeal funding by those parishes who exceed goal and designate overages to the home mission grant awards

St. Francis Xavier Home Mission Grants • Eligibility: • Any home mission parish or school • Defined as one who is experiencing poverty or faces emergency needs that they cannot meet on their own and are vital to the mission of the Church • Timing: • Applications due end of May; allocation committee meets in June; parishes and schools notified in July

St. Francis Xavier Home Mission Grants • Allocation Committee: • The applications are reviewed by a committee of priests and PLCs drawn from the parishes who contribute to the home mission fund through the Christ Our Hope annual appeal • Committee makes grant recommendations to Archbishop Buechlein

St. Francis XavierHome Mission Grants • Annual grant award amount is estimated to be $200,000 - $220,000 based on past experience. • Examples of past awards: • Roof Repairs, parking lot repairs, boiler replacement, hiring specialist teachers, tuition assistance, hiring pastoral associate, Hispanic outreach ministry, window replacement, etc.

Growth and Expansion Grants • The Growth and Expansion Endowment (established through the Legacy Capital Campaigns) was established to provide financial support to parishes, schools and agencies of the Archdiocese to grow or expand their ministries which are vital to the overall mission of the church • Growth and Expansion Endowment balance as of March 31, 2011 was $3.2 million • The 5% annual distribution from this endowment is the funding source for the grant awards each year • Annual grant award amounts have averaged $165,000 over the past several years

Growth and Expansion Grants • Eligibility: • All parishes, schools and agencies of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis are eligible to apply for a growth and expansion grant • The growth and expansion initiatives may be in the form of capital requests, staffing, or programming but the need must be tied to a new or expanding ministry • Timing: • Applications are due in November; Award recommendations are made in December; Notifications are made in early January

Growth and Expansion Grants • Criteria for Awards: • Alignment with Archdiocesan strategic plan priorities • Clear evidence with alignment with strategic planning at the parish/school/agency level • Strong year-round participation in stewardship initiatives • Plan to sustain growth or expansion initiative in the future • Clear measurability of goals and outcomes

Growth and Expansion Grants • Growth and Expansion Allocation Committee • A selection of archdiocesan, parish, school and agency leaders • Priests, principals, agency directors, finance council members, secretariat directors, etc. • Make grant recommendations to Archbishop Buechlein • Examples of past awards: • Hispanic outreach initiatives, youth and young adult ministry programs, hire bi-lingual specialists, educational outreach programs, new classrooms, neighborhood outreach programs, remodeling costs to support growth, books for new library, etc.
