  2. Things to Remember • The luncheon is Saturday, April 9, at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis (Salon 7) • Rehearsal for representatives who are picking up plaques starts at 10:45 a.m. • Doors open for all at 11:45 a.m. • The luncheon starts at 12:15 p.m.

  3. What’s New This Year? • Exciting changes are coming to the Best Practices for School Leaders Luncheon. • We want to honor you, our Magna winners, in a new and special way. • Previously, our luncheon followed the traditional schedule of handing out awards and listening to a speaker. • It’s time to break with tradition and start something new and bold.

  4. Purpose School board members who attend NSBA’s annual conference want: • To pick up unusual ideas and programs to bring home with them. • To network with other school board members and administrators. We can give them these ideas and opportunities with your help!

  5. About the Luncheon • At the luncheon, a representative from each of the grand prize, first place, and honorable mention districts has a chance to showcase their winning Magna programs. • The lunch will be divided into three sessions: Networking at your tables, followed by two 10-12 minute “speed dating” sessions in which you can learn about other programs.

  6. First Session: Networking • You will be seated at tables with other Magna winning districts and with school board members attending the luncheon. • During lunch, we ask that you talk to your neighbors about your award-winning programs. Take this opportunity to share with them your accomplishments and to learn more about their successes.

  7. Picking Up Your Awards As lunch is wrapping up, we will present you with your plaques. • We will call the winners up by enrollment category. • You will receive your plaques in groups of five. • Winners will come up to the stage in the front of the room to receive plaques from NSBA and Sodexo representatives.

  8. The five winners of the 5,000 and below enrollment category will go up on stage together to receive their plaques. • Next , the five winners from the 5,000 to 20,000 enrollment category come up and receive their plaques. • Then, the five winners from the 20,000 and over enrollment category come up. • Finally, the three grand prize winning districts come up to receive their plaques. Note: Photographs will be taken at the end of the event

  9. After the Presentation:The Other Two Sessions • After the awards are presented, participants will be asked to leave their lunch tables and move to a set of tables in the back of the room. • Each table will be labeled with the name of a district. • We ask that you designate two people from your district to be at your session table.

  10. What You Will Do… • One person will give a three minute overview of the program. • The other person will take notes. • After the first session ends, participants will be asked to move to another table to hear from other winning districts. • At the end of the second session, you will have the opportunity to get your photos take with your colleagues and your plaques.

  11. Things to Remember • Session 1 is a networking session with your tablemates during lunch. • Sessions 2 and 3 are at the tables in the back of the room with two districts representatives at each table. • Other luncheon attendees are free to move from table to table to find out about other winning Magna programs.
