  10. Reading • Combination of Strategies • County Adopted Series in conjunction with Guided Reading and Common Core Standards Units (Wizard of Oz...) • Both will incorporate Reading, Writing, Grammar and Phonics • 220 Sight Word Booklet

  11. Guided Reading • Groups are made based on reading ability • Allows me to meet each student’s individual needs • Benchmark Testing to determine levels • Guided Reading room with 27 levels of books in every genre

  12. Literacy Centers • Weekly Center Chart • Focuses on Skills of the Week • Independent Learners • Responsibility • Time Management

  13. Accelerated Reader • STAR test (August, January & May) • Classroom Procedures • Prizes/Parties • AR Necklaces

  14. Writing and Grammar • Sentence “Fix-It” • Grammar (Nouns, Verbs, etc.) • Capitalization, Punctuation, etc. • Journals • Story Writing • Daily Language Instruction

  15. MATH • Big year with lots of new skills • Hands-On • Math Kits • Mental Math • Talk About Math

  16. Social Studiesand Science • Participation Grades Only • Tied into Reading Standards
