Foundation – Statutory Requirements • School districts must ensure that each student, on entering the 9th grade, indicates in writing an endorsement that the student intends to earn. • A district must permit a student to choose, at any time, to earn an endorsement other than the endorsement the student previously indicated.

  3. Foundation – Statutory Requirements • A student may graduate under the foundation high school program without earning an endorsement if, after the students sophomore year: 1. the student and parents are advised by the school counselor of the benefits of graduating with an endorsement. 2. the student’s parents file with the school counselor written permission, allowing the student to graduate under the foundation plan.

  4. Foundation – Statutory Requirements English Language Arts Four Credits • English I • English II • English III • English IV

  5. Foundation – Statutory Requirements Mathematics Three Credits • Algebra I • Geometry • Algebra II (required for Distinguished Plan and top 10% Admission)

  6. Foundation – Statutory Requirements Science Three Credits • Biology • IPC • Advanced Science Course Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Systems, Anatomy and Physiology, Principles of Technology.

  7. Foundation – Statutory Requirements Social Studies Three Credits • World History and/or World Geography • US History • US Government - half credit • Economics - half credit

  8. Foundation – Statutory Requirements Physical Education One Credit (Athletics, Marching Band) Spanish Two Credits Fine Arts (Art or Band) One Credit Electives Five Credits 22 Total Credits

  9. Endorsements – Statutory Requirements Students may earn an endorsement by successfully completing: • Curriculum requirements for the endorsement • Four credits in Mathematics • Four credits in Science • Two additional elective credits

STEM Endorsement Complete foundation plan and general endorsement requirement including Algebra II, Chemistry, and Physics or Principles of Technology Math STEM Courses • Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre –Cal, Advanced Quantitative Reasoning, Dual Credit (College Algebra and College Math Course) Science STEM Courses • Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy and Physiology, Environmental Systems, Principles of Technology

  11. Business & Industry Endorsement Complete all foundation and general endorsement requirements and four classes from one of the clusters. Complete one of three plans offered at CISD AFNR, Manufacturing, or Business Management and Administration

Business & Industry Endorsement Sequence 1 • Principles of Agriculture • Wildlife Management • Livestock Production • Advanced Animal Science Sequence 2 • Principles of Manufacturing • Intro. to Welding • Diversified Manufact. 1 • Diversified Manufact. 2 Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources Manufacturing

  13. Business & Industry Endorsement Sequence 3 • Principles of Business • Business Information Management 1 • Business Information Management 2 • Business Management or • Career Preparation – must be a senior and have a job Business Management and Administration

  14. Arts and Humanities Endorsement Complete all foundation and general endorsement requirements and one of the following groups: • Band 1 – 4 • Art 1 – 4 • Or 2 years of Art and 2 years of Band

  15. Multidisciplinary Studies Complete all foundation and general endorsement requirements and: • Four credits in each of the four foundation subject areas (4 years each of English, Math, Science, Social Studies)

  16. Distinguished Level of Achievement A student must earn distinguished level of achievement to be eligible for top 10% automatic admission to college. • Total of four credits in math, which must include Algebra II • Total of four credits in science • Curriculum requirements for at least one endorsement

  17. Summary Foundation Plan 22 Credits: 4 ELA, 3 Math, 3 Science, 3 Social Studies, 1 PE, 2 Spanish, 1 Fine Art, 5 Electives Endorsements Plans 26 Credits: 22 Foundation Credits, 1 additional Math, 1 additional Science, 2 additional Electives(must meet requirements of the Endorsement) Distinguished Level 4 Credits of Math, must include Algebra II 4 Credits of Science At least one Endorsement Required for top 10% automatic admission to college
