Accomplishments • MWG Workshop combined with Safety Culture Revolution in LV in April 03 • Working group meeting held at LANL in October 03 with best practices sharing • Teleconference in January 04 • Working group meeting held at LLNL in April 04 • Issued position paper on Facilities Management Practices (PMA – Infrastructure Mgmt) • Drafted position paper on Operations and Maintenance Funding (OECM, PMA) • Issued position paper on Maintenance Implementation Plans for nuclear facilities (EH)

  3. Accomplishments • Real Property Asset Management Order review, comment and course audit (OECM) • NFPA-70E lessons learned and implementation process sharing (Safety – EFCOG Critical Few) • Deferred Maintenance tracking, definition and prediction methodologies (NNSA, PMA) • Maintenance Plans sharing (NNSA, EH, RTBF) • Safety programs best practices (EFCOG Critical Few)

Accomplishments • Performance indicator website (EFCOG Prod) • Facility standby/mothball process (EFCOG IM) • Equipment life data for condition assessment • Condition Assessment programs/process (OECM) • Reliability Centered Maintenance practices and linkage to EPRI processes (OECM, NNSA) • FIMS, FCI and RPV (OECM, NNSA) • INPO memberships (EH) • Discussions and feedback with DOE representatives concerning order requirements (OECM, NNSA, EH)

Future Plans Goals: • MWG is seen as a resource by headquarters for issues and reporting requirements associated with maintenance. • The MWG is viewed as a valuable and useful forum of maintenance representatives from the multiple DOE/NNSA sites in which issues can be openly discussed, best practices shared and cost beneficial solutions to issues developed for use by all sites. • Collaborate with organizations such as INPO, EPRI and others to evaluate and propose new and alternative facility management strategies to promote efficiency and effectiveness for sites O&M.

  6. Future Plans Objectives: • Address new RPAM order impacts to sites and programs with Headquarters representatives. Seek a reasonable approach to implementation • Review reinitiating Annual Workshop with members that will allow sharing best practices and performance initiatives • Share Lessons Learned from recent external audits and assessments at the sites

  7. Future Plans • Discuss utilization of high-level performance measures being promoted by headquarters and provide a recommendation on which ones provide value and are results oriented. Develop white paper as a position on issues • Work with NNSA headquarters personnel on deferred maintenance reporting and trending, mission essential facilities and progress on meeting commitments • Promote active participation of NNSA/DOE in working group issues and meetings

  8. Future Plans • Provide direction to and request information from the Performance Indicator subgroup for tracking O&M performance at the sites • Utilize existing GAO reports to guide program improvements and standardization • Align with EFCOG Executive committee on initiatives (03- Work Management, Metrics, Benchmarking and Requirements Streamlining; 04- Productivity, Project Mgmt, Infrastructure Mgmt, Integrated Mgmt, Effective Governance and Oversight)

  9. Future Plans • Stay abreast of latest initiatives within the DOE community and pressures from Congress • Align with current President’s Management Agenda initiatives • Address needs of M&O community through sharing of information and lessons learned and promoting positions with DOE staff
