You have come to me to bring my sin to memory, and to kill my son!” 17:19 He said to her, “Give me your son.” He took him out of her bosom, and carried him up into the room where he stayed, and laid him on his own bed. 20. Christian Miracle Rhetorolect: THE GOSPEL OF JOHN PRESENTS JESUS RAISING LAZARUS FROM DEATH TO LIFE John 11:1 Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus from Bethany, of the village of Mary and her sister, Martha. 11:5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus. 11:6 When therefore he heard that he was sick, he stayed two days in the place where he was. 11:11 He said these things, and after that, he said to them, “Our friend, Lazarus, has fallen asleep, but I am going so that I may awake him out of sleep.” Click for continuation of Jesus’ raising of Lazarus from death to life.

  21. Christian Miracle Rhetorolect: THE GOSPEL OF JOHN PRESENTS JESUS RAISING LAZARUS FROM DEATH TO LIFE cont. (1) John 11:12 The disciples therefore said, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.” 11:13 Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that he spoke of taking rest in sleep. 11:14 So Jesus said to them plainly then, “Lazarus is dead. 11:15 I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe. Nevertheless, let’s go to him.” 11:16 Thomas therefore, who is called Didymus, said to his fellow disciples, “Let’s go also, that we may die with him.” Click for continuation of Jesus’ raising of Lazarus from death to life.

Do you believe this?” 11:38 Jesus therefore, again groaning in himself, came to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone lay against it. 11:39 Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of him who was dead, said to him, “Lord, by this time there is a stench, for he has been dead four days.” Click for continuation of Jesus’ raising of Lazarus from death to life.

  27. Christian Miracle Rhetorolect: THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES PRESENTS PETER RAISING TABITHA (DORCAS) FROM DEATH TO LIFE Acts 9:36 Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, which when translated, means Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and acts of mercy which she did. 9:37 It happened in those days that she fell sick, and died. When they had washed her, they laid her in an upper room. 9:38 As Lydda was near Joppa, the disciples, hearing that Peter was there, sent two men to him, imploring him not to delay in coming to them. 9:39 Peter got up and went with them. When he had come, they brought him into the upper room. All the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the coats and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them. 28. Christian Miracle Rhetorolect: THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES PRESENTS PETER RAISING TABITHA (DORCAS) FROM DEATH TO LIFE cont. Acts 9:40 Peter put them all out, and kneeled down and prayed. Calling the saints and widows, he presented her alive. 9:42 And it became known throughout all Joppa, and many believed in the Lord. Click for Paul’s raising of Eutychus from death.

  30. Christian Miracle Rhetorolect: THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES PRESENTS PAUL RAISING EUTYCHUS FROM DEATH TO LIFE Acts 20:9 A certain young man named Eutychus sat in the window, weighed down with deep sleep. As Paul spoke still longer, being weighed down by his sleep, he fell down from the third story, and was taken up dead. 20:10 Paul went down, and fell upon him, and embracing him said, “Don’t be troubled, for his life is in him.” 20:11 When he had gone up, and had broken bread, and eaten, and had talked with them a long while, even until break of day, he departed. 20:12 They brought the boy in alive, and were greatly comforted. 31. JESUS’ RESURRECTION FROM DEATH IS A DYNAMIC BLEND OF MIRACLE AND APOCALYPTIC RHETOROLECT, RATHER THAN SIMPLY THE SUPREME EXAMPLE OF CHRISTIAN MIRACLE RHETOROLECT. JESUS’ RESURRECTION FROM DEATH IS THE MEANS BY WHICH JESUS BEGINS THE NEW APOCALYPTIC AGE (1 CORINTHIANS 15) AND GAINS A POSITION IN HEAVEN, FROM WHERE HE MAY RETURN TO EARTH AS THE AUTHORITATIVE SON OF MAN AT THE END OF TIME. • Click for a summary.

  32. Good Work! In this lesson you have learned that: The raising of people from death by Elijah and his disciple Elisha are a beginning point for Christian miracle rhetorolect that features the raising of people from death to life. Isaiah 26:19 also refers to the dead being raised to life. • Click to continue the summary.

  33. Excellent! • God’s raising of Jesus from death to life is a dynamic blend of miracle and apocalyptic rhetorolect, rather than simply the most dramatic example of miracle rhetorolect. • First, God’s raising of Jesus from death to life begins the process of resurrection of the dead in “the new age.” Jesus is therefore “the first fruits of the dead” (1 Corinthians 15:20). • Second, the goal of God’s raising of Jesus is the movement of Jesus from earth to heaven, where Jesus receives the authority and power from God to return to the earth at the end of time. • Click to continue the summary.

  34. Congratulations!!!! THIS WAS THE SECOND LESSON on the Christian Miracle Story-Line. Every good wish as you continue with Lesson 3 on the healing of people.
