  2. Stand in the Midst of Trials • Trials of life (6:4) • “Patience” is endurance in life • “Afflictions” are the pressures of life • “Necessities” are the everyday hardships of life • “Distresses” are the situations of life where there is no way out

  3. Stand in the Midst of Trials • Trials of ministry (6:5) • “Stripes”: beatings for Christ • “Imprisonments” for the cause of Christ • “Tumults” or riots • “Labors”: much work for Christ • “Watchings”: sleepless nights • “Fasting”: willingly going without food

  4. Stand in the Power of Righteousness • You need the character of the Holy Spirit. • You need the power of the Holy Spirit. • Power through the Word of God • Power through the armor of Righteousness • You need the power of Truth (6:9-10)

  5. Stand for the Cause of Christ • Separated in mind (6:11-16) • Separated in body (6:16) • You are God’s dwelling place. • You are God’s feet.

  6. Stand for the Cause of Christ • Separated in spirit (6:17-18) • Your separation from sin builds your relationship with your heavenly Father. • Your separation from sin shows you are a son or daughter of God.
