  1. Room 307 Newsletter Mrs. Etrheim, February 24th – 28th It is hard to believe, but February 28th (Friday) marks the mid-term mark of the third quarter. In turn, students will receive (unofficial) progress reports this coming week and will have a chance to turn in missing classwork, to be submitted by the 28th. Please continue to check GradeSpeed and let me know if you have any questions about your fourth grader’s grades (directions for getting set up with GradeSpeed are available on our Weebly). Official progress reports will be sent home the following week. While the fourth graders will have a new set of spelling words this coming week, we will not be studying new vocabulary words. In turn, language arts homework this week will focus on spelling and grammar. We are also wrapping up our unit on the Southeast, and so students will be tested on the state names, abbreviations, and locations on Thursday, February 27th. While we have reviewed this information many times in class, students still need to study outside of school for the test. Terra Nova testing is also approaching quickly with the first day of testing on Monday, March 10th. We will start preparing more formally for these tests this coming week. My goal is to instill confidence in the fourth graders so that they can approach the test calmly and positively, and in turn, do their best work. Anything you can do to encourage this mindset outside of school would be very much appreciated! The next PTO Picture Day will be held this coming Thursday, February 27th. Please see the packet that was sent home with fourth graders on Thursday (2/20). This newsletter is also available on our Weebly, http://etrheim.smith.kdso.eportalnow.net. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at alissa.etrheim@eu.dodea.edu.
