  1. WELCOME TO 4TH GRADE MR. ARTIS’ CLASS

  2. INTRODUCTION • My name is Mr. Artis and I will be your child’s teacher for this upcoming school year. I am really excited to be back in 4th grade as I have had experience with 4th grade in years past. I have been here at North Drive for 12 years in several capacities, (i.e., behavior specialist, EC Teacher, instructional assistant). I will say that I enjoyed working with 4th grade more than any other position that I have had, however.

  3. 4TH GRADE Mr. Artis • We will have a fun filled and exciting year awaiting us and I am sure that much will be learned throughout the year. I am married to a wonderful woman named Patricia, and she loves to cook. Many times throughout the year, we will have food tasting’s in the class so if your child suffers from any food allergies, please let me know as soon as possible. Also, it is very important for me to have your most current address and phone numbers so that at any time, I can get in touch with you for any medical emergencies or behavioral issues

  4. 4TH GRADE Mr. Artis • My behavior policy is very simple, I expect everyone to be kind and respectful. If there are behavior issues, I will make every attempt to solve the issues within the classroom. We will follow the Paw system that has been used in previous years. Each child will receive 3 paws per day, (morning paw, lunch paw, afternoon paw) unless there is a behavior issue of some type, at which time, your child will not earn his/her paw for that time period. Paw status will be documented on the paw sheet that will be sent home on a daily basis, with comments as required. I would ask that you review and sign these sheets daily, as they give you the most current status with your child. If further contact is required, I will call your to inform you of what is going on.

  5. 4TH GRADE Mr. Artis • I am CPR certified and have training in allergic conditions, and am a First Responder to any medical issues within the school. Although I love to converse with each family North Drive Policy is to have all phone calls to the classroom sent to voicemail prior to 11:00am. After this time, I will get back to all calls as soon as possible. Periodically, I will send out a progress report and or newsletter to inform you of any updates.

  6. 4TH GRADE Mr. Artis • Please keep in mind that North Drive is a UNIFORM DRESS CODE School, which means that all students MUSTbe in uniforms daily. If students are not within dress code, initially a phone call will be made. After the first incident, student will be sent home to get in compliance with the Wayne County School Policy. A dress code letter is included with this packet.

  7. 4TH GRADE Mr. Artis • Also included with this packet is a card that I will use later in the year that required a photo of your child. If you have a photo, please attach it to the card and return to me as soon as possible. My mission is clear and simple…to educate your child to the best of my ability, and I will perform this task. I ask that you ensure that your child is ready and prepared to tackle each day and to give his/her best, as I will certainly do the same. Thank you and let’s enjoy this school year together.
