  2. ColorFamilies Colors come in a few basic families: • Primary • Secondary • Tertiary • Tints/Pastels • Neutrals/Earthtones • Tones • Shades • Warm • Cool

  3. ChromaticCamaraderie • PRIMARY means FIRST, these are the FIRST colors you use to make all colors • PrimaryColorsinclude: • Red YellowBlue

  4. ChromaticCamaraderie • SECONDARY means SECOND, these are the SECOND set of colors we get from mixing PRIMARY colors • SecondaryColorsinclude: • Orange Purple Green

  5. ChromaticCamaraderie • TERTIARY means THIRD, these are the THIRD set of colors. Tertiary Colors include colors made by mixing a primary and a secondary: • Magenta = Red+ Purple • Vermillion = Red + Orange • Saffron = Orange + Yellow • Pistachio = Yellow + Green • Turquoise = Green + Blue • Violet= Blue + Purple

  9. ChromaticCamaraderie • SHADES are colors mixed with BLACK. These are also called DARK COLORS. • Maroon = Red + Black • Burnt Orange = Orange + Black • Khaki = Yellow + Black • Pine = Green + Black • Cornflower = Blue + Black • Plum = Purple + Black
