  2. What Is A Vet? • Veterinary medicine is a field with multiple ways to get involved. Each potential career involves different levels of training and education, from the 2-year education programs for veterinary technicians to the 4-year education programs for veterinary technologists and the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree for veterinarians. Veterinarians treat pets or domestic farm animals in an animal hospital, clinic or private office. At each career level, states require licensure to practice.

  3. Training • •Microscopic and Gross Anatomy • •Clinical diagnosis of animals • •Animal ethology and immunology • •Animal husbandry • •Veterinary embryology • •Veterinary parasitology • •Animal pharmacology

  4. Requirements • A four-year (bachelor's degree) in college, plus four years of veterinary medicine school. • To practice as a vet in the U.S., you need a four-year degree (that's four years after your four years of college) from an accredited college of veterinary medicine with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M. or V.M.D.). • Veterinarians also need a license to practice.
