  2. ACT 1: Scene 1 • Three witches meet and plan to meet Macbeth, because “Fair is foul and foul is fair.”

  3. ACT I: Scene 2 • The sergeant reports to King Duncan about the progress on the battlefield and Macbeth’s courage and victory.

  4. ACT I: Scene 3 • The witches meet Macbeth and Banquo and predict their futures. Macbeth will be the Thane of Cawdor and later King of Scotland. Banquo’s children will be kings. The two are perplexed.

  5. ACT I: Scene 4 • King Duncan announces for Macbeth to become the Thane of Cawdor. Witches’ prophecy is fulfilled.

  6. ACT I: Scene 5 • Lady Macbeth receives the news that the king is coming to their home. She prays to the devil to be able to kill Duncan.

  7. ACT I: Scene 6 • Duncan arrives at Macbeth’s castle.

  8. ACT I: Scene 7 • Lady Macbeth has finally convinced Macbeth to kill the king for their own rewards.

  9. ACT II: Scene 1 • Macbeth converses with Banquo about loyalty and, afterwards, sees a floating dagger, representing his anticipation.

  10. ACT II: Scene 2 • Macbeth murders Duncan and now feels very guilty for what he did. He’s paranoid that someone will find out what he’s done.

  11. ACT II: Scene 3 • Macbeth and Lady Macbeth hear that Duncan has died “somehow”, and Lady Macbeth “swoons” because she is scared that they are going to be suspected.

  12. ACT II: Scene 4 • They are talking about how nature is reacting to Duncan’s murder. Days are dark, horses are biting each other, and an owl kills a hawk.

  13. ACT III: Scene 1 • Macbeth hires the murderers to kill Banquo and Fleance.

  14. ACT III: Scene 2 • Lady Macbeth is curious about the other prophecies and how they will be dealt with. Macbeth tells her not to worry.

  15. ACT III: Scene 3 • Murderers kill Banquo, but Fleance flees.

  16. ACT III: Scene 4 • Macbeth is at a party and sees Banquo’s ghost; the guests think that Macbeth is acting strange.

  17. ACT III: Scene 5 • Three witches meet Hecate. Hecate is angry that the witches gave prophecies without her.

  18. ACT III: Scene 6 • Lennox is being sarcastic about Macbeth’s kingship; he doesn’t actually like him.

  19. ACT IV: Scene 1 • Witches make a potion in a cauldron. They give Macbeth three new prophecies: fear Macduff, no man born of woman can kill Macbeth, and Burnam Wood will move to Dunsinane.

  20. ACT IV: Scene 2 • Lady MacDuff is told that MacDuff is a traitor to his country by the murderers. Mac

  22. ACT IV: Scene 3 • Malcolm flees to England when his father is killed, and McDuff follows, and they meet Ross.

  23. Act V Scene 1 • Lady Macbeth is sleepwalking and “washing the blood” off her hands. The gentlewoman and doctor watch.

  24. ACT V: Scene 2 Menteith, Caithness, Angus, and Lennox plan war on Macbeth’s castle.

  25. ACT V: Scene 3 • The doctor tells Macbeth that his wife is sleepwalking and saying crazy things.

  26. ACT V: Scene 4 • Macduff and his allies plan the battle to go to the castle. They plan to cut the trees and hide behind them.

  27. ACT V: Scene 5 • Lady Macbeth kills herself after she has gone insane from the killing of Duncan. She kept on sleepwalking and constantly seeing blood on her hands (that she couldn’t get off).

  28. ACT V: Scene 6 • Macduff and allies drop the trees and charge the castle. The battle begins.

  29. ACT V: Scene 7 • Macbeth fights young Siward in a sword fight. Macbeth kills young Siward.
