  1. Kelsey for Presidentof NHS

  2. Biography • I have been an active participant in many activities here at Kell. I am a returning member to NHS, Beta Club, and Model UN. I have also had the opportunity to develop my leadership skills through my participation in Kell’s Leadership Organization. Over the past three years on the Varsity Lacrosse team, I have learned the value of being a team player. These experiences have given me necessary leadership skills and have taught me that the best way to lead is through a serving example.

  3. Plans for Next Year • Last year, I noticed that many members were struggling to gather their hours in time for the deadline. Many people had lost or misplaced their hours and verification sheets. If elected, I would like to keep a running total of each member’s hours on a spread sheet posted in either Mrs. Meehan’s room or on the NHS bulletin board. This sheet would be updated about every three weeks so members always know how many hours (Kell and Outside) they have. • I also noticed that many members struggled to get all of their hours each semester. Through SGA, I hear about many opportunities our school offers to gain extra community service hours and most of those are Kell hours. Because there are never enough volunteers, I would like to have NHS members fill these slots. Also, if there are not enough opportunities for our members, I would create new ones. Last year, I, with the help of two friends, created and organized the fist Kell What-A-Man which raised over $900 for Relay For Life thanks to volunteers from both NHS and Beta Club. I would gladly do this again. • Finally, for our chapter project last year, NHS had wanted to put on the What-A-Man competition. Unfortunately, SGA had already begun the process. This year through my involvement in both, if elected, I would like to work together with both SGA and Beta Club to ensure miscommunications like this do not occur again.

  4. Goals • I would like for our organization to become more involved in our school and its community. When people in the community see us, I would like for them to say, “Look, that’s a Kell NHS member.” • Also, I want our organization to be easily recognized and to leave our mark on Kell. I would also like for students at our school to recognize our society and its members. Many people do not know we exist and don’t know our objective. I would like to change that so students know our true mission: serving our community. • If elected, next year I intend to help pave the path for future NHS years. I would like them to see what it is truly like to serve your community.
