  2. The Lighthouse Club ALIIS CUM HUMANITATE • Construction Fellowship Charitable Society • Non Political • OBJECTIVES : • Provide Forum for Networking among Construction • Professionals • Provide Assistance to Construction Persons and • their Dependants who are in Need.

The Lighthouse ClubThe Construction Industry Charitable Society ALIIS CUM HUMANITATE • Origins : • Formed in the United Kingdom in 1956 at a Ministry of • Public Works Exhibition in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. • Named after a nearby Landmark, the St Mary’s • Lighthouse. • Now has more than 7,000 members at various branches • throughout the United Kingdom.

The Lighthouse Club Asia PacificThe Construction Industry Charitable Society ALIIS CUM HUMANITATE • Asia Pacific Regional Clubs started in Hong Kong in the mid 1980’s and now exist in the following Countries : • Thailand • Malaysia • Vietnam • Singapore • Macau • The Phillipines • Cambodia • Abu Dhabi and Dubai • Australia

The Lighthouse Club Asia PacificThe Construction Industry Charitable Society ALIIS CUM HUMANITATE • Each Country member is also a Regional Member afforded the • benefits of each Country Club when visiting that country. • Singapore branch was formed in 2000 with just a few • members. Membership last year reached 300 and the Club has • a bank balance of nearly $300,000 available for beneficiaries. • Annual disbursement to beneficiaries vary between $70,000 • and $90,000. Your support at Events such as this enable us to • provide that level of assistance.

The Lighthouse Club ( Singapore )The Construction Industry Charitable Society ALIIS CUM HUMANITATE • FUND RAISING : • Funds are raised through Membership Fees, Donations and Events. • The most regular of these Events are our monthly Networking • Meetings which we call “Get-Togethers”. • These are held alternately at Gaelic Inns’ Penny Black on Boat • Quay and Ballymoons in Orchard Hotel, who provide free finger • food and Happy Hour prices. Usually some free drinks are also • available sponsored by one of our Corporate Members.

The Lighthouse Club ( Singapore )The Construction Industry Charitable Society BENEFICIARIES ALIIS CUM HUMANITATE • Regular Beneficiaries : • 5 No Bereaved Families • 6 No Students from Needy families • Other beneficiaries : • “One-off” accident assistance or repatriation cases. • Short term assistance to persons in need. • Assistance to poor families with heavy medical expenses.

Lost one eye within a few months of • birth. • 18 + months fight to save other eye – tens of thousands of • dollars in cost. Sadly recently lost second eye. • Family tens of thousands of dollars in debt. • Assistance Provided : Nearly $40,000 from LHC Singapore plus • $10,000 from Hong Kong. Future needs under consideration.

The Lighthouse Club ( Singapore )The Construction Industry Charitable Society INDIVIDUAL BENEFICIARIES - Others ALIIS CUM HUMANITATE • Construction Supervisor – Young Daughter Required Emergency Heart Operation : • Insufficient funds in CPF to cover cost – applied to Lighthouse • Club for assistance. LHC paid for operation and after care – • successful outcome • Expatriate Engineer Suffered Stroke : • Unable to travel due to medical condition. Abandoned by local • employer. Used up all savings with living and medical expenses. • LHC assisted with expenses until he was fit to travel. Now • assisting him in Philippines to find work.
