  2. What will we learn this year? • Chapters 1 – 11 excluding 1.3, 1.7, 4.6, 9.5, 9.6, 10.5, 10.6 and 10.7

  3. Everyday in Ms. Kwon’s class • Follow the directions on the board (PPT slide; example on the next slide) • Go over practice problems • Homework corrections • Turn in the assignments • Lesson; class notes or activities

Algebra I 8/29/2013 • Copy down the homework in your planner 1) HWK#14: Write a letter to your friend explaining how you solve equation by using addition, subtraction, multiplication and/or division property of equality 2. Have the following materials on your desk • Pencil, Pen (Red or Blue), Eraser • Binder • Homework from yesterday 3. Start working on today’s Practice problems individually!

  5. REQUIRED materials Materials: The following need to be in class EVERY DAY 1) 2” or 3” binder with dividers and blank paper  • Dividers should have • 1. Class notes 2. Homework 3.Practice Problem Journal 2) College Ruled blank paper  3) School Planner  4) At least 1 Pencil with 1 eraser  5) 1 Blue OR Red pen

  6. Grades • A: 100 - 90 % • B: 89 - 80% • C: 79 – 70% • D: 69 – 60 % • F: 59% and below • Class Participation/ Class notebook: 15% • Homework: 15% • Weekly Quizzes: 20% • Tests: 40% • Projects: 10%

  7. Homework • Homework is checkedEVERYDAY • Possible points on homework • 4pts: All problems attempted meaning • Shown work • No blanks on any problems (self-assessment) • 2pts: partial • Blanks or “I don’t know” • 0pts • Did not do/ Don’t have • Completed with a pen

LATE WORK = HALF credit • Accept only a week old assignments; All the missing/late works must turned in by Friday • Requirements to turn in late work assignments • Work shown, answers are ALLcorrect (RESOURCE: Ms. Kwon’s website) • NEED to have ‘LATE’ written on the top of the paper with a parent’s signature

Frequently asked questions • Can I retake quizzes/unit tests? • Quizzes: NO retake • Unit tests: ONE do over per semester meaning if you get a higher score on your retake, the score will be replaced. • Contact the teacher  • MUST do a short error analysis on all the questions that answered incorrectly • Retake the test • Do I need to bring textbook to class? • NO. We have a class set!

  12. TUTORING HOURS • EVERY Morning; students NEED to make an appointment via email! • EVERY day during lunch at Ms. Kwon’s room • After school (Except Tuesdays and the days that Ms. Kwon has faculty meetings to attend)
