  1. News For the Week: • Please send all school supplies to school ASAP. Your child will keep a school box in both classes so send two school boxes and two scissors. Thanks so much! • Your child will switch classes. I teach Math & Social Studies. Jennifer Hill teaches Reading, Saxon phonics, spelling, and science. • Your child may eat breakfast at home or at school. Students may eat in the cafeteria between 7:30-7:55. When students are dropped off, they must go to the cafeteria • My homeroom has P.E. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and some Fridays. Please see notebook for Friday P.E. schedule. Make sure your child wears tennis shoes on those days. • School starts at 8:00 and dismisses at 3:10. • Drop off and pick up is behind the school where you see the car port. There will be a staff member to help your child in/out of the car. No child should be dropped off before 7:30. • Please send a jacket/sweater. It gets cold in our classroom. • The community pep rally is September 8that 6:45 What’s Happening in Mrs. Baros’ Class?First GradeMath & Social StudiesAugust 25-29, 2013dbaros@vvisd.org Conference Time: 9:00-9:45 Curriculum for the Week: Math Objectives Numbers We will compare numbers 0-10 and review writing/spelling numbers 0-10. Colors We will review reading and spelling the color words. Shapes We will review basic shapes. circle, square, triangle, recta `ngle, oval, rhombus, heart, star Spatial Reasoning We will review same/different. Graphs We will learn about picture and bar graphs. Calendar Skills Your child will be exposed to calendar skills daily. We will learn about the days of the week, months of the year, seasons, and weather. Addition We will use unifix cubes to add numbers 0-10. Social Studies “Families” Please see the brown paper sack and help your child find 5 items to bring to school. Thanks for your help! BREAKFAST is free!! Your child may eat breakfast at home or at school. Students may eat in the cafeteria between 7:30-7:55. When students are dropped off, they must go to the cafeteria.
