  1. SIGNAGE Signs are around us all the time. From warnings of danger to the simplest of instructions they are about us all the time. In this project you will design a prototype set of signs that are informative, aesthetically pleasing and a good promotion tool for the client

  2. Criterion A Investigation Investigation You are to give a four minute presentation to the class on how people get around in the modern world using signs to guide themselves. Your presentation in which ever form you choose to compile it, is to be uploaded to your wikispace. The URL is to be pasted below. URL :- animal flower cave For fun. Underneath each of the icons give a word or two to indicate what these sign might be telling someone.

  3. Criterion A. Investigation Investigation You will be taken to a tourist attraction in Barbados that has poor signage. You will survey the site with a view to establishing what signage would be useful in the given situation. You will need a camera to photograph the attractions and the signage that is in place. You will need pencil and paper to make a sketch map of the site. From the data gathered, you will perform a needs analysis for the signage at the site. This will form the develpmental basis for your ‘Design Brief’ and the ‘Specification.’ The collected data is to be collated in a presentation document stored on your wikispace with the URL pasted below Design Brief. I am going to design and make something that will create a successful recognizeable sign. Specifications. The solution/ finished product will :- a. effective b. Clear c. catchy

  4. Criterion A. Investigation Investigation How will you establish whether or not you have been successful? Your criteria for success is laid out in the specification. But how can you quantifiably establish that you have succeeded. Write down below the details of the tests you would use on your finished product In order order to create an un-biased means of testing I think that it will be crucial to TRY and conduct trial-and error based logo ideas and break-down the pros & cons and work from there. It is very important to create a logo that it relevant to the business and has a message that is quickly acknowleged

  5. Criterion B. Design Design On paper, sketch out a range of different designs for your prototype. Scan the sketches and paste them below . Add notes to each sketch comparing the sketch to the specification, #1 #2 Animal flower cave Animal flower cave

  6. Next 2 ideas Link to them File:

  7. Criterion B. Design Design Make a detailed drawing either electronically or by hand, of your chosen design. Ensure that you include enough detail so that the design could be produced. Underneath the drawing, explain fully why you think this is the best design. Choosen design 1 I choose idea #3 because I thought it was thought provoking , effective and clear. Many designs are meant to portray a message that is quickly acknowledged and recognized. My design when I did my trial and error based tests showed that it had good color and the text was readable. #3 my sign

  8. Criterion B. Design Design You have the design itself, but there are other decisions that need to be made. Answer the requirements below. For each answer., explain why the answer is a suitable solution 1. What material will the sign be made from? 2. How big does it need to be? Plastic and or wood or recycled material 3ft x 3ft 2. How will you fix the sign onto the wooden poles? 3. How will you weatherproof the sign? I will adjust the signs measurements using a bracket for your specific needs. In order to weatherproof my sign You can purchase a special material That keeps your sign in good condition

  9. Criterion C. Planning Planning You now know what the sign looks like, what it is made from, how it fixes to the wall and how it Is protected from the elements. So how will you make it? Full details of how to make the sign need to be worked out. A pictorial storybook of how to make the sign and assemble it onto the pole is needed. You will sketch the different stages, scan them into this document and add notes to complete the story. #1 Detect sign for appropriate location. #3 my sign #2 send measurements to contractor

  10. Criterion C. Planning Evaluation Show here how you tested the product and came to conclusions about how well it worked. Remember to add your own grades against the different criteria. In order to test my product I held it up and asked a parent weather they could still detect color and the text on top. it is important to create testing that is un-biased and make sure that you logo is effectively clear for the naked eye. Print sign Install sign Test sign to on coming consumers and see if they can read it clearly.
