  2. Background • Born on 19th of January, 1809 • Son to Eliza and David Poe • Biological parents were traveling actors, foster parents were tobacco merchants • Two siblings: Rosalie and William • Religion unknown • Non political • Writing inspired by his life

  3. Childhood • Excellent education • Friends were relatives and mostly girls • Talent was writing • Contributed to his career • Collapse in tobacco market caused his family go into debt

Adulthood • Attended University of Virginia • Employment was writing, contributed the lives of people through inspiration • Fiancé married another man, then he married his cousin • Rumor of him in a relationship with a married woman • Very poor and it made his life very difficult • Hero Maria Clemm

  5. Contribution to Society • Famous for writings • Inspired many people • Not have the same inspiration • Failures: not being able to accomplish everything he needed,affects his successes
