  3. How To Help Your Technician New Equipment Please label where it needs to go and who it is for. Make sure a service request entered with the service desk or TMC to have the equipment installed. Starting Up your Computer When you turn on your PC the first time this fall it may take 20 minutes or more to complete its updates. Please let your staff know to expect this delay. Service Requests All technology service requests must go through the service desk. Please don’t stop the tech and ask them to perform work without first contacting your TMC or the service desk. This helps with gathering and tracking data.

  4. Updates/Projects for 2012 Windows 7 DOT has upgraded the operating system on the student computers and the CCC’s to Windows 7. We will start the installation of Windows 7 on staff computers around October 1. Additional communications will go out to all staff around the start of school. This project should be completed early in 2013. Wireless Networking DOT is installing wireless into the remaining buildings that do not have wireless or have limited wireless access. This project will start in September and should be complete during Christmas break.

New SIS Update • The RFP (Request for Proposal) for a new SIS to replace Pinnacle and PowerSchool (and potentially other systems such as Welligent) has been released. • TENTATIVE RFP TIMELINE • July 11, 2012 RFP published • September 6, 2012 Oral Presentations from Vendors • October 15, 2012 Board Meeting for approval of award • October 22, 2012 Implementation Project Begins • Spring 2013 System Testing • July 30, 2013 Go live

  8. Electronic Sign-upTimeline • August 9th 4 PM – Portal Closes • August 9th – 12th – Import of summer signups into PowerSchool • August 13th 7 AM – Portal re-opens for 2012-2013 School Year

Electronic Sign-up“Types” of Students • There are 3 types of students you’ll need to handle • Returning students who have completed Infosnap sign-up • Returning students who have not completed Infosnap sign-up • New students to the District who have not completed Infosnap sign-up • Check Infosnap for status first

Electronic Sign-upReturning – Sign-up Completed • Returning students who have completed Infosnap sign-up • Verify proof of residency • If they need to change any information • Print the Student Info Verification report in PowerSchool • Changes on this form will need to be entered by hand in PowerSchool

Electronic Sign-upReturning – Sign-up NOT Completed • Returning students who have not completed Infosnap sign-up • Verify proof of residency • Check status in Infosnap • If status is ‘Imported / Added’, follow notification procedure • See document “Infosnap - How to - Manage Imported Students in Infosnap Admin Portal.pdf” on thumb drive for instructions • If status is ‘Notified / Not Started’ or ‘Started’, select the student, go to ‘Tasks’ > ‘Send Email’ to resend the notification email

Electronic Sign-upNew students for 2012-2013 • Enroll student in PowerSchool as you have in past only filling in basic information • If a existing student record is discovered in duplicate check, make sure to use the existing record • In Infosnap > Roster Workspace > Imported / Added View select ‘Add New’ from Tasks menu • Enter Student Number exactly as assigned by PowerSchool • Enter remaining information • Notify using normal procedure • Note: Detailed instructions in document on thumb drive called “Infosnap - How to - Enter New Currently Enrolled Students in Infosnap Admin Portal.pdf” • Question for group – How often should we move records to PS?

Electronic Sign-upBoundary Placement/Waiver Export • Area field in PowerSchool has been changed to elementary schools only and a new Triad field has been added • With these fields we don’t have to worry about changing the area school when students go from elementary to junior high or to high school • There is an Export Template in PowerSchool which will allow you to see your student’s area elementary school/triad and waiver reason (as collected at sign-up) • See document “PS - How to - Export Boundary-Waiver Information.pdf” on thumb drive for complete instructions • DEMO • Please export this information and verify any student that has an elementary school/triad that is outside of your school’s boundary has the waiver reason marked appropriately. • These fields are located on the Demographics page under the Enrollment section

  14. Electronic Sign-upNew Field Listing • New fields added to PowerSchool for sign-up are in spreadsheet on thumb drive • Spreadsheet includes field names (for Quick Export or List) as well as which page they are on • Filename: “New Fields Created for Infosnap Registration.xlsx”

  15. MASS Enroll Functionality • Mass Enrolling allows you to place groups of students quickly in their classes • How to document is on thumb drive called “PS – How to – Mass Enroll Students in Classes.pdf” • DEMO • Deadlines for all demographic updates and for students to be scheduled in their classes is August 22ndat 6 pm

  16. Incident Management • Replaces “Log Entries” for discipline incidents • Incident Management/Discipline Infractions • Quick card for how to enter incidents is included on thumb drive (Incident Management Quickcard.pdf) • DEMO: How to enter/search incidents (at school level and student level)
