  1. MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING

  2. “Game of love” • The nature of attraction between a man and woman. • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sdc5bkFd2X4

  3. Role of marriage in society • The way in which marriage is depicted or viewed in society (positive or negative). • Another central element of marriage is the issue of deception; the butt of marriage jokes is how tied down or “cuckolded” married folks become. Deception (especially of a cheating wife) is the source of cuckoldry. • Cuckold- referred to a man with an adulterous woman.

  4. Romance • To court or “woo” romantically; treat with ardor or chivalrousness. Not necessarily associated with love. • Though the play is a romance, the plot seems to highlight the fact that love is only one of many factors that goes into a love affair.

  5. Gender Roles • The pattern of male or female behaviors that is defined by a particular culture and sometimes is largely determined by one’s upbringing. • https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEaSAJgaLtQ

  6. reality vs. appearance • Explores how one lover constantly tries to determine the other lover’s faithfulness through outward signs and actions. • At every juncture in the plot, there is a contrast between what seems to be taking place and what really is occurring. • Pay close attention to the masquerade ball -this is a typical symbol for the theme of appearance versus reality.
