Overlapping applications in Courses of Thai and India Worachart Exchange of list of applicants: It is recommended that applicants living in India should apply for ICGEB and Thai for Thai Agreement on Countries covered by each regional Center - List of countries to give prior consideration Students studying in other countries outside region: guideline to accept students returning home within 6 months after training. Letter of the Institution is needed

Standardization of the training Courses Worachart • Core Course • Materials and software should be developed and used in all training sites • To have facilitators rotating among the four sites • To have two types of training courses: basic and advanced. These courses can be organized in alternative years

  3. Sustainability Worachart • Commitment of support • This is the most important factor. More funding might be needed to further develop existing sites to handle advanced courses, while establishing new sites to handle basic courses. • Networking and on-line service: • Networking of the 4 Centers. Apart of sharing teaching material and softwares, networking can lead to opportunity for research collaboration

Support • Logistic and interaction of WHO/TDR and course organization - Ahmed Bellaham is our contact • Definition of WHO/TDR short term and long term commitment with regional Centers and trainees developments • Budget for the center • Fellowships for graduation programs • Grants for the youg researchers • Career developmental grant • Identification of other Agencies for Bioinformatics funding

Courses • Training Courses address different public/clients, depending on the immediate training needs in the region and upon the experience and structure of the training center • The target public should be defined at the planning stage of future courses • Accordingly, the course should be adapted: content, duration, facilitators, etc. • Levels • Train basic or advanced users • Train the trainer • Train developers • Train project managers

  6. Networking • Exchange of training material, facilitators and expertise • Between the regional training Centers for exchange of experience, evaluation and planning • Between regional centers and the regional network (development of bionformatics in the region, research cooperation) • Interaction between the regional networks

  7. Follow-up of the students • Return visits of trainees to the Centers (two months?) • Visits of trainers to the new sites under development • Fellowships • Graduation Programmes
