  3. COURT & EQUIPMENT • SPECIFIC COURT DIMENSIONS • 1 CIRCLE • “ RESTRICTED AREA” IS IN THE SHAPE OF A TRAPEZOID

  4. BENCH & BASKET • TEAM A SHOOTS AT THEIR OPPONENTS BASKET AND THEREFORE DEFENDS THEIR OWN BASKET • FROM THE SCORING TABLE FACING THE FLOOR, THE HOME BENCH IS TO THE LEFT.*

  5. BENCH & BASKET • * IF THE TWO TEAMS AGREE, THEY MAY INTERCHANGE BENCHES AND/OR BASKETS.

  6. PLAYING TIME • 4 x 10 MINUTES

  7. INTERVALS OF PLAY • 15 MINUTE HALF TIME • 2 MINUTES BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND QUARTERS • 2 MINUTES BETWEEN 3RD AND 4TH QUARTERS

  8. STARTING EACH HALF • JUMP BALL ONLY TO START THE GAME • AP FOR THE REST OF THE GAME

  9. JUMP BALL • PLAYERS MAY MOVE ONTO OR AROUND THE CIRCLE PRIOR TO THE TOSS

  10. THROW-INS • FRONT COURT THROW IN- CANNOT PASS THE BALL TO A TEAMMATE IN THE BACKCOURT. (PREVENTATIVE OFFICIATING) • ALLOWED TO PASS THE BALL OVER THE BACKBOARD

  11. THROW-INS • THE INBOUNDER MAY MOVE LATERALLY UP TO 1 METRE FROM THE ORIGINAL SPOT. IF THIS OCCURS THE INBOUNDER MAY NOW NOT MOVE LATERALLY UNTIL THE BALL IS RELEASED. • THERE IS NO LIMIT TO THE DISTANCE THE PLAYER MAY MOVE BACK FROM THE LINE.

  12. SUBSTITUTION • PERMITTED DURING CLOCK STOPPAGE (SAME AS NCAA) • FREE THROW SITUATIONS • PRIOR TO FIRST FREE THROW • NOT BETWEEN FREE THROWS

  13. SUBSTITUTION • FREE THROW SITUATIONS (CONTINUED) • BEFORE BALL IS AT THE DISPOSAL OF INBOUNDER FOLLOWING A SUCCESSFUL FREE THROW • OR IF A MID-COURT THROW IN FOLLOWS THE FREE THROW ATTEMPT

  14. SUBSTITUTION • LAST 2 MINUTES OF 2ND HALF, SUBS PERMITTED FOR TEAM SCORED UPON. OPPONENTS MAY THEN SUB AS WELL.

  15. SUBSTITUTES • SUBSTITUTES MUST REMAIN IN THE GAME FOR AT LEAST 1 SECOND.

  16. TIME OUTS • 2 IN THE FIRST HALF AND 3 IN THE SECOND HALF, NO CARRY OVER. • T.O. MUST BE REQUESTED BY THE COACH AT THE SCORER’S TABLE. • GRANTED AT THE NEXT STOPPAGE OF PLAY

  17. TIME OUTS • TO THE NON-SCORING TEAM, IF A FIELD GOAL IS SCORED. • TO EITHER TEAM IF THE LAST FREE THROW IS SUCCESSFUL. • TO EITHER TEAM AFTER A FREE THROW IS FOLLOWED BY A THROW IN FROM MID-COURT.

  18. TIME OUTS • NO TIMEOUTS BETWEEN FREE THROWS • EACH TIMEOUT IS 60 SECONDS IN DURATION-WARNING AT 50 SECONDS. • SUBS MAY OCCUR AFTER WARNING HORN.

  19. TIME OUTS • TEAMS MUST STAY IN THEIR HUDDLES UNTIL THE WARNING HORN. • 1 TIMEOUT PER OVERTIME PERIOD. NO CARRYOVER INTO OVERTIME NOR BETWEEN OVERTIME PERIODS.

  20. TIME OUTS IN THE LAST 2 MINUTES OF THE 2ND HALF: • A TEAM THAT REQUESTS A TIMEOUT FROM THE BACKCOURT. I.E. AFTER A MADE FG OR FT. BUT IT COULD BE A DEFENSIVE VIOLATION • MAY INBOUND OPPOSITE THE TABLE AT THE DIVISION LINE.

  21. TIME OUTS IN THE LAST 2 MINUTES OF THE 2ND HALF: • THE ENSUING THROW IN MAY BE THROWN INTO THE BACKCOURT. • NO 24 SECOND RESET BUT A NEW 8 SECOND COUNT BEGINS – PREVENTATIVE OFFICIATING

  22. FREE THROWS • MAXIMUM 5 PLAYERS (3 DEFENSE; 2 OFFENSE) IN DESIGNATED LANE SPACES. SPACE BETWEEN 1ST AND 2ND SPOT IS A NEUTRAL ZONE. • SPACES ARE EXCLUSIVE TO EACH TEAM. • LANE SPACES MAY BE VACANT DURING A FREE THROW ATTEMPT.

  23. FREE THROWS • VIOLATIONS BY EITHER TEAM (EXCLUDING THE SHOOTER) ARE CALLED ONLY IF THE FREE THROW IS UNSUCCESSFUL. • VIOLATIONS BY THE FREE THROW SHOOTER TAKES PRECEDENCE OVER OTHER VIOLATIONS.

  24. FREE THROWS • FIVE SECONDS TO RELEASE THE TRY. • PLAYERS IN MARKED LANE SPACES MAY ENTER ON THE RELEASE OF THE SHOT. • ALL OTHER PLAYERS WHEN THE BALL HITS THE RING.

  25. TIMING • CLOCK STOPS LAST 2 MINUTES OF 2ND HALF AND EXTRA PERIODS ON MADE FIELD GOALS.

  26. SHOT CLOCK PROCEDURES • 24 SECONDS IN DURATION • SHOT CLOCK STARTS WHEN TEAM AHAS CONTROL OF THE BALL • RESET SAME AS NCAA EXCEPT: • INJURY TO OPPONENT

  27. SHOT CLOCK PROCEDURES • TECHNICAL STOPPAGE, NO ADVANTAGE • FULL RESET ON KICKED BALL • AIR BALL FOLLOWED BY SIMULATANEOUS POSSESSION. AP TO OFFENSE - NO RESET

  28. SHOT CLOCK PROCEDURES • BALL LODGED IN BETWEEN RING AND BACKBOARD. • ARROW FAVORS OFFENSE -NO RESET-

  29. BALL LODGED IN BETWEEN RING AND BACKBOARD • ON A THROW IN – NOT A VIOLATION • GO TO AP • ENSUING THROW IN FROM THE ENDLINE

  30. OVERTIME • TEAMS CONTINUE TO SHOOT AT THE SAME BASKET. • 5 MINUTES IN DURATION • 1 TIME OUT ONLY • NO JUMP BALL

  31. AIRBORNE SHOOTER • CONSIDERED IN THE ACT OF SHOOTING UNTIL BOTH FEET RETURN TO THE FLOOR. • “CHARGE” (REALLY SHOULD BE CALLED A PUSH) AFTER THE RELEASE OF THE BALL-SAME AS NCAA RULE.

  32. BLOCKED SHOT • PLAYER RETURNING TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT LOSING CONTROL OF THE BALL-TRAVELLING VIOLATION.

  33. FALLING • PLAYER WITH THE BALL IS PERMITTED TO FALL TO THE FLOOR. NO TRAVELLING VIOLATION

  34. FIGHTING • HEAD COACH OR ASSISTANT MAY ASSIST IN A FIGHTING SITUATION. • ANY PEOPLE WHO LEAVE THE BENCH ARE DISQUALIFIED. REGARDLESS OF THE NUMBER OF EJECTED PERSONNEL ONLY ONE BENCH TECHNICAL WILL BE CHARGED TO THE COACH.

  35. VIOLATIONSCLOSELY GUARDED • 5 SECOND COUNT ON A PLAYER HOLDING THE BALL ANYWHERE ON THE COURT

  36. VIOLATIONS8 SECONDS • 8 SECONDS TO ADVANCE THE BALL INTO THE FRONT COURT • BALL OUT OF BOUNDS WITH NO CHANGE OF POSSESSION - 8 SECOND COUNT CONTINUES.

  37. VIOLATIONS8 SECONDS • COUNT CONTINUES WHEN: • BALL GOES OUT OF BOUNDS • A PLAYER OF THE SAME TEAM IS INJURED • A JUMP BALL SITUATION OCCURS • A DOUBLE FOUL • A CANCELLATION OF EQUAL PENALTIES AGAINST BOTH TEAMS

  38. VIOLATIONS 24 SECOND SHOT CLOCK • SHOT MUST BE RELEASED PRIOR TO SOUNDING OF THE HORN AND SUBSEQUENTLY HIT THE RIM – SAME AS NCAA. • HORN DOESN’T STOP PLAY, ONLY THE OFFICIAL’S WHISTLE DOES.

  39. VIOLATIONS BACK COURT • FRONT COURT STATUS OCCURS ONCE EITHER THE BALL OR ONE FOOT CROSSES THE DIVISION LINE. • NO AIRBORNE EXCEPTIONS ON JUMP BALLS, THROW INS OR INTERCEPTIONS.

  40. VIOLATIONS BASKET INTERFERENCE • OFFENSE AND DEFENSE MAY TOUCH THE BALL ONCE IT CONTACTS THE RIM. • IF THE DEFENSE CAUSES THE BACKBOARD TO VIBRATE DURING A SHOT ATTEMPT AND THE OFFICIAL BELIEVES THE SHOT HAD A CHANCE TO SCORE, THIS IS A B.I. NOT A T

  41. VIOLATIONS FAKING DURING FREE THROWS • SHOOTER MAY NOT FAKE A FREE THROW ATTEMPT. • NO RULE AGAINST FAKING TO DRAW A VIOLATION BY PLAYERS IN MARKED LANE SPACES.

  42. FOULS- PERSONAL FOULS - • CONTACT BY AN OPPONENT DURING A LIVE OR DEAD BALL

  43. FOULS TEAM/PLAYER CONTROL • NO FREE THROWS ON ANY TEAM CONTROL FOUL. • PLAY RESUMED WITH A THROW IN.

  44. FOULS- PENALTY (BONUS) - • 2 SHOTS ON THE 5TH TEAM FOUL IN EACH QUARTER.

  45. FOULS- TECHNICAL FOULS –PLAYERS • NON-CONTACT FOULS – LIVE OR DEAD BALL • 2 SHOTS PLUS POSSESSION AT DIVISION LINE • ALL TECHNICALS BY “PLAYERS” ARE ALSO TEAM FOULS

  46. FOULS- TECHNICAL FOULS –COACHES • ALL TECHNICALS ON COACHES, ASSISTANTS, SUBSTITUTES, AND TEAM FOLLOWERS ARE CHARGED TO THE HEAD COACH.

  47. FOULS- TECHNICAL FOULS –COACHES - • TECHNICALS ON THE COACH ETC. ARE NOT TEAM FOULS

  48. FOULS- TECHNICAL FOULS –COACHES • ACTIONS THAT MERIT TECHNICALS ARE CLASSIFIED AS FOLLOWS: • C ON THE HEAD COACH. 2 OF THESE = EJECTION • B ON THE BENCH.3 OF THESE OR 1 C AND 2 B’S = EJECTION

  49. FOULS- UNSPORTSMANLIKE FOULS - • 2 (3) SHOTS PLUS POSSESSION AT DIVISION LINE. • EXCEPTION: MADE FIELD GOAL = 1 SHOT + POSSESSION • 2 UNSPORTSMANLIKE FOULS = EJECTION

  50. PLAYER FOULING OUT • PLAYER FOULING OUT 30 SECONDS TO REPLACE • TEAMS TAKING LONGER THAN 30 SECONDS ARE CHARGED WITH A TIMEOUT. • IF TEAM HAS NO TIMEOUTS THEN A ‘B’ TECHNICAL IS CHARGED
