  1. Suppression of HIV-1 infection by persistent infection with non-pathogenic viruses: GB virus-C and TT virus A number of studies showed that GBV-C infection is associated with better prognosis in HIV-1-infected individuals. Previously, we have demonstrated that distinct genotypes of GBV-C influence HIV-1 infection differently. TT virus (TTV) is ubiquitous and apparently non-pathogenic. It is genetically variable and consists of at least 5 genogroups. In this study, we investigated if distinct genogroups of TTV can influence prognosis of HIV-1-infected individuals. 2. TTV viral load and survival Higher TTV viral load was associated with survival in HIV-1-infected individuals [Two-sample Wilson rank-sum tests]. TTV infection and survival Co-infection with genogroup G4 was associated with survival in HIV-1-infected individuals. In direct opposition, G1 co-infection might be associated with their mortality. 3. TTV G4 infection and survival Lower mortality was associated with TTV genogroup G4 co-infection in ARV-naïve HIV-1-infected individuals. G4-positive p = 0.025 [Log Rank (Mantel-Cox)] G4-negative Survival days THPDA05 Thaisri, Moriuchi, et al
