HomeFree Nevada • HomeFree Nevada’s Mission: • Establish and implement standards and quality assurance for auditors and contractors to create Comfortable, Energy Efficient, Healthy, Safe and Valuable residential environments and reduce our communities’ carbon footprint and resource consumption.

  4. HomeFree Nevada • HomeFree Nevada’s Goals: • Create long-term, sustainable funding. • Provide and facilitate training and continuing education on an annual basis to auditors and contractors for improving residential resource efficiency.

HomeFree Nevada • HomeFree Nevada’s Goals: • Provide career pathways for auditors and contractors for improving residential resource efficiency. • Promote and educate the public on HomeFree Nevada performance standards and programs through partnerships with public, private and non-profit organizations.

  6. HomeFree Nevada • HomeFree Nevada’s Goals: • Create healthier communities through residential property improvements and increased resource efficiency. • Work to streamline local government requirements for residential energy and conservation retrofits.

  7. HomeFree Nevada • Sponsor of Home Performance with Energy Star (HPwES) • National program from the U.S. EPA and U.S. DOE, that offers a comprehensive and quantitative, whole-house approach to improving energy efficiency, comfort, health, safety and durability of homes.

  8. HomeFree Nevada • As the sponsor of the HPwES program in Southern Nevada, HFNV is responsible for: • Developing and managing the program standards, policies and procedures • Recruiting contractor/auditor(s) participation

  9. HomeFree Nevada • As the sponsor of the HPwES program in Southern Nevada, HFNV is responsible for: • Facilitating training to certify contractors/auditors as RESNET HERS Raters and BPI Building Analysts • Promoting the program to homeowners and contractor/auditor(s)

  10. HomeFree Nevada • As the sponsor of the HPwES program in Southern Nevada, HFNV is responsible for: • Ensuring that the work completed under the program meets program standards through quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) inspections • Evaluating program success

  11. HomeFree Nevada • Audit • HomeFree Nevada approved Auditor conducts a Comprehensive Home Energy Audit • Provide home owner with: • Comprehensive report on energy efficiency of home • Recommended improvements • List of Approved HFNV Contractors to complete retrofit work

  12. HomeFree Nevada • Retrofit • HomeFree Nevada approved Contractor meets with homeowner • Develop Scope of Work • Complete Retrofit

  13. HomeFree Nevada • Test Out • Auditor returns to home • Completes test-out to ensure retrofit work was completed properly • Report provided to HomeFree Nevada

  14. HomeFree Nevada • Auditor Requirements: • RESNET Certified HERS Rater with a Provider • BPI Certified Building Analyst

  15. HomeFree Nevada • Auditor Requirements: • Follow program quality assurance procedures. • Provide Homeowners a User’s Guide on how to make their home perform optimally.

  16. HomeFree Nevada • Contractor Requirements: • BPI Certified Building Analyst and pass RESNET Written Exam • Nevada Contractor’s License and Bond

  17. HomeFree Nevada • Contractor Requirements: • Provide HFNV the Test-Out results for each completed job within five (5) business days. • Follow program quality assurance procedures.
