  1. Directions and Maps EVS Worksheets CBSE Class 2 | EVS Worksheet for class 2 This worksheet is for class 2 EVS, comprising the topic of Directions. It will help students develop a better understanding of Directions. Students will be able to understand the following after finishing this worksheet: 1.What are the four cardinal directions? 2.What is a compass? Why do we need a compass? 3.What is a map? What are the benefits of maps? 1.What are the four cardinal directions? Do you remember how your elders told you to look right and left before you cross the street? But when someone or some vehicle needs to travel in a direction, we don’t say go right or left. For that purpose, we use cardinal directions. C ardinal Directions are points on a compass that helps us navigate or find directions. We will know more about a compass later in this worksheet. The four cardinal directions are North, East, West and South. These directions often get symbolised by their initial letters as N, E, W and S, respectively. 2.What is a compass? Why do we need a compass? Whenever we are unable to find our way, cardinal directions can help us navigate. To understand the directions around us, we make use of a compass. It is a tool that helps us figure out directions. www.takshilalearning.com call 8800999284

  2. A compass needle always points towards the North direction, so we can easily figure out where East, South and West is. A compass can be extremely helpful in places that are not thickly populated and you are alone. Such places include mountains, forests, oceans. Ships and boats can only rely on compass directions to reach their destinations because an open sea doesn’t have any paths or roads. What is a compass? 3.What is a map? What are the benefits of maps? A map is a drawing of a part of the Earth’s surface or a drawing of all of the Earth’s surface. A map gets used to understand which place lies where. Maps can be of different kinds, focusing on different features of our planet. For example, there can be a general world map (as shown below) or a map of some specific country or a map that only shows rivers of the world. What is a map? A map and a compass together can help you travel to any place you want as the compass would give you directions, and the map would help you identify where you need to go. 1.Fill in the blanks: 1.________ help us to find a place. 2.________ is a drawing of a place on paper. 3.Sun_______ in the East, ______ in the West. 2.True or False 1.Direction helps us to find a place. 2.There are two main directions, North and South. 3.On a map, the top side is the North, and the bottom side is the south.
