    6. Illiteracy among children is one of the major problems the world faces today.

    7. Twenty-two percent of Americans can’t read or write. While it is an unseen problem, illiteracy profoundly impacts our society.

    12. Statistics reveal that 60% of prison inmates are illiterate, and 85% of all juvenile offenders have reading problems.

    16. More than half of the people in America aged to 65 have a reading level below the eighth grade.

    24. The amount of time spent in poverty has a significant and negative effect on child's academic achievement.
