STORIA DELLAJUVE • La Juventus nacque nell’autunno del 1897 a Torino come società civile «per gioco, per divertimento, per voglia di novità» su iniziativa di alcuni giovani studenti del liceo. i soci fondatori furono i fratelli Eugenio ed Enrico Canfari, Gioacchino e Alfredo Armando, Luigi Gibezzi, Umberto Malvano, Vittorio Varetti, Umberto Savoia, Domenico Donna, Carlo Ferrero, Francesco Daprà, Luigi Forlano ed Enrico Piero Molinatti, cui si aggiunsero successivamente Pio Crea, Carlo Favero, Gino Rocca, Guido Botto ed Eugenio Seco. Il luogo tipico di riunione dei liceali era una panchina non distante dalla loro scuola. L’argomento principale era lo sport, in particolare il calcio, che dalla Gran Bretagna stava espandendosi nel resto d’Europa. Si assume per convenzione il 1° novembre del 1897 quale data di fondazione ufficiale del club.
