Value of ECS • Operational employees can work together more Easily and Effectively • Avoid traveling (telephone or video conferencing) • Enhanced coordination (document merging, calendaring, scheduling, workflow systems) • Enhanced collaboration (project management tools, discussion forums, instant messaging, etc.)

Value of ECS Knowledge Management • A great deal of knowledge is exchanged during normal communication and collaboration processes. • In some sense and ECS can manage that knowledge, i.e., recording it, distributing it, organizing it. • Example: I forgot how to configure MySQL, but I can search my past email and find the message send by our system administrator, which describes what I need to do.
