Introduction

  • At CC9, it was decide to establish a Working Group on NEAR-GOOS Data Management
  • At CC10, the committee concluded that the following action should be taken by the group.
    • Action: the DMWG to review the data flow, existing data exchange policy and find the best way to include chemical and biological data in NEAR-GOOS databases.
  • After CC10, the team started its activities, including the first session of the team

    • to maintain and develop the DB network established in the first phase
    • to develop a plan to improve the DB network
    • to prioritize DM tasks
    • to work together with other NEAR-GOOS groups
    • to keep contact with other DM initiatives

  • Specific objectives
    • Review existing data flow and data exchange policy
    • Find the best way to include chemical and biological data

DMWG1 outcome

  • The WG recognized that
    • some chemical and biological data archives are already publicly available, and
    • there are requirements for in situ chemical, biological and SST data for satellite application,
  • And agreed to take the following actions:
    • To prepare an inventory of existing in situ chlorophyll a and sediment material data
    • To draft a concept paper on an integrated real-time SST database project
