  2. Question • Does color effect how people perceive something’s taste?

  3. Hypothesis • I thought it would show a consistency of people thinking the drink tastes like something that has the same color as the drink.

  4. Procedure • First I put 4 different flavors of seltzer water in 4 different cups. I had orange flavored seltzer water in one cup raspberry in another, lemon-lime in another, and cherry in another. I colored raspberry blue, lemon-lime red, cherry yellow, and orange green. I asked family and friends to try the “soda”. Then I would ask them what they think it tasted like and which was their favorite.

  5. observations • I noticed that people didn’t particularly get it right all the time but their answers would get in the ballpark. I also noticed a few answers that were far from right. But there was a little consistency in the color affecting how people perceived something’s taste but there was not enough of it to prove my hypothesis correct. I also asked people what their favorite tasting drink was seeing if there would be a trend so far there has been no trend really.

  9. CONCLUSIONS • So far my hypothesis has not been correct there has not been a real consistency of people thinking something is flavored like a food or object of that same color. In fact there has been more of a consistency of people thinking it taste like what it actually is. I am not done experimenting yet.
