    2. Extension Council Youth Leadership (ECYL) Topic #2 Learning Objectives: Understand differences between generations. Understand similarities between people regardless of age. Grasp the unique skills and perspectives that each generation brings to the table in decision-making. Gain strategies for communicating and effective decision-making as a group.

    3. Understanding and Working with Multiple Generations Identify some common societal stereotypes of adults and youth (single words or phrases)

    4. Understanding and Working with Multiple Generations For Discussion Do stereotypes of adults/youth tend to help or hinder working in groups? What are some examples you can name? What are some suggestions for how groups can effectively manage stereotyping?

    5. Understanding and Working with Multiple Generations 5 Generations at the Table Look over the “Meet the Generations” handout. What stands out as you look at the differences between generations? Reflect on your current council. What generational characteristics do you see?

    7. Understanding and Working with Multiple Generations Who are the “Super Millennials?” Generation age 16 and under is not discussed in the handout. This generation has not yet been named. How do youth 16 & under describe themselves?

    8. Understanding and Working with Multiple Generations Action Step… Record what your council can do to make the group more “youth-friendly.” Record what the council can do to make the most out of the assets of five generations.
