Case Study The Geography behind the disaster. • Type of plate movement that caused the volcanic eruption The key facts and figures • Date and time of the eruption. • Primary effects (the things that happened immediately) • Secondary effects (ice cap on the volcano melted by the eruption = ?) • Social impacts (on the people) • Environmental impacts (natural environment) • Economic impacts (jobs e.g. farming and ability to earn a wage) The rescue attempt • what was done and was it successful? • What factors hampered the rescue? Lessons for the future. • How can the effects of a future eruption be minimised? You will need to do some additional research here on volcanic eruption prediction.
