  2. Story Summary • Zeus ordered Hephaestus to make Pandora as a punishment to mankind. The reason for the punishment was because Prometheus gave mankind fire. Hephaestus made Pandora out of clay he sculpted her beautifully. She was the first woman on earth. The gods gave her gifts which consisted of beauty, persuasion, music, voice, pettiness, curiosity, and many other things. Pandora was given a box that she was told never to open. Eventually her curiosity got the best of her, and she opened the box. As soon as she did this she unleashed all of the evil and mistrust into the world. When she looked at the bottom of the box the only thing that was left was hope.

  3. Most prominent qualities • Made out of clay • First woman on earth • Beauty, grace, desire, cunning, boldness, foolish, idle, mischievous, and curiosity • The wife of Epimetheus • She was named Pandora because it means “All-gifted”

  4. Role on Mount Olympus • She did not really have a role on mount Olympus. Since she was a human she lived on earth.

  5. Affect on the Greeks • She affected the Greeks view of the world by opening Pandora’s box. By doing that she unleashed all evils on the world. Some of the evil things that she released were disease, violence, cruelty, despair, malice, greed, old age, death, hatred, and war.
