  1. Human & Robotic Technology(H&RT)Technology Database System BAA Supporting Information 28 July 2004 Douglas A. Craig Technology Integration Manager for Human and Robotic Technology Development Programs Division NASA Headquarters

  2. Exploration Technology Database Objectives • Develop a data repository capability for both internal use in analyses and planning as well as for external communications. Scope • Data repository will be for Agency-wide use for providing H&RT technology information. This information will include past technology development accomplishments, current technology development activities, and technology forecasting. • This activity will also develop integration capability to ensure consistency in the information captured in the repository.

  3. Human and Robotic Technology DatabasesOverview Past Technology Development Accomplishments Technology Forecasting Current Technology Development Activities Technology Goals (TTB, SBIR/STTR Handbook) NASA Technology Plans (Tech Inventory, H&RT Project Plans, IBPDs) Technology Database Results (Technology Transfer Systems, Tech Briefs, R&T Reports) Technology Development Plans Of Others (DOD, DOE, Industry, Academia, etc.)

  4. Technology Database Information Data types • Technology data types incorporated • Text • Description • Benefits • Applications • Operational Environments • Technology Metrics • SOA Performance Metrics • Forecast Performance Metrics • Technology Readiness Level • Research and Development Degree of Difficulty • Technology Need Value • Programmatic • Budget • Schedule/Time Frame • Development Risk • Organization information • Process Information • Images • Photos • Diagrams/Design Drawings (CAD) • Technical Figures/Plots • Roadmaps • Multimedia

  5. Human & Robotic TechnologyTop Level Database System Requirements • Captures technology information (both inside and outside NASA) • Code T compliant/compatible (consistent look and feel) • Different levels of security (e.g., open to public, ITAR, internal NASA use only) • Easy user access - WEB Based • Easy data entry/population • Database population integrated with other management processes • Easy search capabilities • Consistent with H&RT technology breakdown structure and definitions • System is evolvable • System is flexible • Data is valid • Data is current • Generates data reports (e.g., excel spreadsheets, technology summaries, technology analyses results, Tech Briefs, Enterprise Research and Technology Development Reports, etc.) • System tracks technology development activities
