Department of Construction and Design
Construction and Design Mission Statement • The mission of the Department of Construction and Design is to act on behalf of the Board of County Commissioners, user departments and the citizens of Lee County to plan, construct, design and renovate County facilities in a timely, cost effective manner. We are dedicated to maintaining high ethical standards and protecting our environment through the care and diligence of our employees. We strive to operate fairly and openly to ensure public trust.

Internal Services – Contracts Mission Statement • Contracts Management provides services to all County Departments/Divisions to: (1) provide clear and concise guidelines on acceptable procurement methods; (2) procure services through a competitive process; and (3) monitor services made to insure compliance with the policies and procedures established in the Contract Manual, Florida Statute, Resolutions, Administrative Codes, and Ordinances.

Internal Services – FiscalMajor Services • Encumber funds - Process Purchase Order requests and executed Contracts. • Accounts Payable – Process invoices against Operating and CIP budgets, as well as refunds for canceled permits. • Accounts Receivable – invoicing external entities, as well as creating interdepartmental invoices for internal work orders, records storage, pest control, etc. • Process petty cash, travel, and procurement card transactions • Budget input for our departments • Cashiering duties and related reconciling and depositing of revenues from in-person and on-line transactions • The Manager acts as Fiscal Manager for Community Development, County Lands, Construction and Design, Facilities Management, Contracts Management, and Public Works Administration
Internal Services – Fiscal5 Year Activity History • The Fiscal Pool provides Fiscal Support services for employees in all of the departments and divisions of Community Development and Public Works (excluding Utilities) as well as County Lands. For FY08/09, that support represents 34% of all BoCC employees. The staff deposits revenues, enters Purchase order requests, and pays invoices as their primary duties.
