  2. Slide #1 Welcome to “Are You Ready to GxmO?” Onscreen Content • This is the home page. It contains the links to the learning modules • This is the home page for the course and contains the following: • In this course you will explore the following modules: • Radiographic physics • The x-ray beam • The radiographic image • Digital imaging and darkroom techniques • Radiation protection • Embed video here: Instructor’s welcome and instructions. • Embed video here: Testimonials from previous students. • Link to mock GXMO exam goes here. Detailed Script Every course needs an informative and welcoming home page. This is the introduction to the student of the course they are about to take. While the modules can be completed in any order, or by doing only one, two, three, four or all five. This is student-led learning . The instructor is there to facilitate, field questions by email or text, monitor the blog for questions and offer feedback where appropriate and generally support the student through the process.. The modules listed are for the entire course, each having its own set of presentations, activities, and quizzes. Interactivity / Navigation Navigation to the modules will be located on the left hand side of every screen, allowing the student to pick and choose their learning experience. This is handy if the student wants to review something brought up in a previous module that is pertinent to the modules they are currently involved with. Each module will be a live link to the topic instruction web page. All links open in new tabs or windows for ease in navigation. At the bottom of every page, there will be a link to: the mock GXMO exam, a link to print your grades/certificate(s) of completion, site map, contact us, application forms for the exam, reference list of books used to create the exam, test prep hints, and the blog. On the right hand side of the screen on every page will be a menu of links to tutorials in math, physics and medical terminology.

  3. Slide #2 Ready? Radiographic Physics Onscreen Content • Topics covered in this module are: • Concepts of radiologic science • Radiologic quantities and units • The atom • Electromagnetic radiation • Electricity and magnetism • Electromagnetism • Word search puzzle goes here. • Link to the module quiz goes here. Detailed Script This is the number one important module for the first-year radiography student. In order to sit for the GXMO exam, the student must have an understanding of the physics involved in x-ray production. You will not have in-depth physics class until the fall of the second year. Here’s your chance to explore and get a leg-up. The topics are arranged for you take them in order, each with a mini presentation and an activity. Some of this may be a review for you, but there is a good amount of new information you need to pay attention to. So, relax and enjoy the activities under each topic, try your hand at the word search, and take the quiz. Not all at once  If you need help, just ask! Cheering you on! Interactivity / Navigation Navigation to the modules will be located on the left hand side of every screen, allowing the student to pick and choose their learning experience. This is handy if the student wants to review something brought up in a previous module that is pertinent to the modules they are currently involved with. Each topic will have an overview, presentation, outside discovery resource (video, article, web site), and summary located in a drop-down menu accessed by clicking on the topic. All links open in new tabs or windows for ease in navigation. There will be a link to: the mock GXMO exam, a link to print your grades/certificate(s) of completion, site map, contact us, application forms for the exam, reference list of books used to create the exam, test prep hints, and the blog at the bottom of every page. On the right hand side of the screen on every page will be a menu of links to tutorials in math, physics and medical terminology.

  4. Slide #3 Ready? The X-Ray Beam Onscreen Content • The topics covered in this module include: • Imaging system • The x-ray tube • X-ray production • X-ray emission • X-ray interaction with matter • The Control Panel game goes here. • A link to the module quiz goes here. Detailed Script This module is about the x-ray beam. You can think of this as physics part two. Through the topics above you will be exploring the machinery that applies the principles you have been exposed to in the previous module. As you progress through the tasks in the topics, pay attention to the article about x-ray interaction. The material it presents will be valuable to you as you take the module quiz. Enjoy the challenging control panel game. The key in that one is not to hurt anyone! As technologists we know it’s a good day when everyone lives. If you have questions, please ask., And check out the blog (link to the blog) and join in the conversation.

  5. Slide #4 Ready? The Radiographic Image Onscreen Content • The topics covered in this module are: • Radiographic film • Processing the latent image • Radiographic intensifying screens • Beam restricting devices • The grid • Radiographic exposure • Image quality • Radiographic technique • Processor labeling game goes here. • Link to module quiz goes here. Detailed Script The thing that separates the good technologist from the great technologist is producing an x-ray of diagnostic quality the first time. Radiologists love that. Patients love it more. That knowledge what affect what and how is the key to taking excellent radiographs. So click on the links and explore the wonders that are the radiographic image. Don’t forget the processor game! And remember, if you need anything, email or text me. You are the reason I am here. Interactivity / Navigation Navigation to the modules will be located on the left hand side of every screen, allowing the student to pick and choose their learning experience. This is handy if the student wants to review something brought up in a previous module that is pertinent to the modules they are currently involved with. 6. Slide #5 Ready? Digital Imaging & Darkroom Techniques Onscreen Content • The topics covered in this module are: • Darkroom processing & film handling • Image artifacts • Z-numbers • Digital image receptors • Digital readers • Computed radiography (CR) & direct-capture radiography (DR) • Windowing & leveling • Crossword puzzle goes here. • Link to module quiz goes here. Detailed Script I know, film is not something you use at your clinical site. But not every site is digital like your clinical site. There are still plenty of imaging centers that use film. The registry as well as the GXMO exam will ask you questions about it and you need to have the answers. Also in this module is what you need to know about digital imaging. So click on the topics and watch the presentations and participate with the learning objects . When you’ve finished try the crossword puzzle. Take a break, then take the quiz and see how much you’ve learned. Interactivity / Navigation Navigation to the modules will be located on the left hand side of every screen, allowing the student to pick and choose their learning experience. This is handy if the student wants to review something brought up in a previous module that is pertinent to the modules they are currently involved with. Detailed Script This module should be a review for you over the material you have learned in the classroom and clinic during your first year. But, there may be one or two things you haven’t been exposed to. So, in order, click on the tasks above and participate in the presentations, videos and learning objects. Each is there to help you with your mastery of radiation protection and biology. Remember, even if you are not planning on taking the GXMO, this is a good review for you for the registry. Needless to say, mastering the content in this module in particular, will make you a better technologist. Cheering you on as you attempt the mock GXMO exam! Interactivity / Navigation Navigation to the modules will be located on the left hand side of every screen, allowing the student to pick and choose their learning experience.
