  2. Daily Writing: Day off 1/8/14 Choose one prompt to respond to and explain with detail: • What did you do on your day off? Explain! • Would you like a 4 day week? How would that work? What would be the downfalls? What would be the benefits? Planner • Due tomorrow: read & SQ3R pg. 38-45 • Due Monday: vocab & study guide ?s Outliers • Quiz Monday on chapter 1 Outliers vocab & ?s

  3. Wednesday: Outliers Share/Show Journal title: Intro to Outliers • Name 5 people in your life who influence you on a daily basis and how. Do they influence you in good ways? Bad? Why do you surround yourself with these people? • Characterize the town of Rosetoas a community. What made them so healthy? • What is your definition of success? Do you aspire to your definition of success? How will you go about achieving it?

  4. Wednesday: Vocab & Chapter 1 Outliers • Hand back Diary of PT Indian quiz & final. • Review vocab & questions chapter 1 Outliers (due Monday). • Work on Reading College TextbooksSQ3R pg. 38-45 (due tomorrow).

How would this change your life? • What would happen if there was no technology? What would our lives be like?   6. Thursday: Social Control & Deviance • Show me SQ3R pg. 38-45 • In groups, create a presentation on your assigned pages. Present tomorrow! • You’ll be graded on: • Time on task & group participation • Creativity & Visuals (PPT should not be word for word of the text). • Subject Knowledge & Ability Summarize & Focus on KEY points • Enthusiasm & Presentation Skills (eye contact, voice quality/volume, etc.)

Thursday: Social Control & Deviance Suggestions: • Break your groups up even further (subheadings) • Share emails! • Go through your assigned pages again and pick out the most important information. Put them into your OWN words. • Create a PPT (with even LESS words – think bullets) and have notecards for the rest. • Do a little extra research on your assigned topics. • Create a diagram or a skit to show complex theories. School will vote, and ONE student per grade will be chosen to represent the class. • Change of plans…  FYI, my expectations will be higher and I’ll be adding an individual reflection part. • Actively read article on early adolescence.

  12. Hot Seat • Designated “hot seat” in front of the room. 2 minutes to ask the seated person any question in a rapid-fire succession. The hot seat member is allowed to say “pass” for any too personal questions — avoid asking anything too personal, as it can ruin the fun. Sample questions: • “What would you do if you won the lottery?” • “If you could meet and have dinner with any person who ever lived, who would it be and why? What would you ask that person?” • “What three words would you use to describe yourself?” • Questions can be funny, too, such as: • “What was your most embarrassing moment?” • “What was your proudest moment?” • “What was the silliest thing you’ve ever done?”
