How do you find the volume of a cylinder?

How do you find the volume of a cylinder?. For example: A cylinder with height 7cm and radius 2cm. r=2cm. h =7cm. In this lesson you will learn how to develop and apply the formula for volume of a cylinder by using the concept of stacking circles. Volume = Base x height

  1. How do you find the volume of a cylinder? For example: A cylinder with height 7cm and radius 2cm r=2cm h=7cm

  2. In this lesson you will learn how to develop and apply the formula for volume of a cylinder by using the concept of stacking circles.

  3. Volume = Base x height V = Bh =(6cm2)(4cm) = 24 cm3 h= 4cm B= 6cm2

  4. V = Bh =(4cm2)(5cm) = 20 cm3 h= 5cm B= 4cm2

  5. A = r2 = = 9 cm3 r=3cm

  6. Cylinder Volume = Base x height V = r2h h B = r2

  7. r=2cm V = Bh V = r2h V = 2(7cm) V = 28 cm3 h=7cm

  8. r=5cm V = Bh V = rh V = r2h 2(9cm) V = 225 cm3 = 90cm h=9cm

  9. In this lesson you learned how to develop and apply the formula for volume of a cylinder by using the concept of stacking circles.

  10. Find the volume of the cylinder. r=2cm V = Bh V = r2h V = 2(4cm) V = 16 cm3 h=4cm

  11. Find the volume of the cylinder. d=6cm so r=3cm d=6cm V = Bh V = r2h V = 2(8cm) V = 72 cm3 h=8cm

  12. Research Cavalieri’s Principle and explain how it can be used to derive the formula for volume of a cylinder.

  13. Make two different cylinders out of two identical sheets of notebook paper, one by taping the longer edges together and the other by taping the shorter edges. • Which looks to have greater volume? • Test your prediction by measuring and calculating the actual volume of each.

  14. 1. Find the volume of a cylinder with height 5cm and radius 1cm 2. Find the volume of a cylinder with height 10cm and radius 3cm
