    2. TEXAS What do you know about Texas? Before you leap into a web quest on Texas test your knowledge on this state of the US. Try to do the following quiz and find as many correct answers as possible. Click on the symbol to start the Texas Quiz

    3. THE QUEST The following web quest shall help you to gain an overall view of Texas as seen from various angles. You will have to take on different roles in teams of four in order to throw some light at different aspects of Texan life and culture. Your goal is to produce an information brochure for Austrian exchange students. The first thing you have to do, though, is to find a field that you want to look at. Then find three more team members (each with a different role) who help you explore this field.

    4. Your information brochure has to be completed as a power point presentation that includes all the important facts and bits of information on your field. Then you have to present the brochure in public, i.e. in front of your class, and explain your choices and findings.

    5. THE ROLES You have to adopt one of the following roles (each of them Austrian students) A student of history - you are particularly interested in the history of Texas. You want to make sure that everyone gets at least some insight into the Texan past A student of journalism - you have decided to contribute as many facts as possible since you believe that only factual language can render exact information A student of English - you have seen a lot of Texas since you have been there for six months. Your contribution will be to add some of your impressions experiences A student of Geography - you would like to see this vast country yourself, therefore you have decided to look at your field from a geographer´s point of view to provide for a complete outlook on Texas

    6. THE FIELDS Now you have to decide on one of the fields below to investigate it with your team members. Remember, all teams consist of each of the roles above. Texas today - what do students have to know about present day Texas? Find as many facts and important aspects of life as you think are necessary to know Texas traditions - what do you consider a must for students to know about traditions and culture of Texas? What about food and traditional festivities? Collect the most important facts and try to give some illustrative examples Texas history - find as many facts about the past of Texas that you consider important. Which nations have had an impact on Texas? Why has Texas become so valuable for present day USA? Texas for tourists - try to find some of the most exciting places of interest in Texas. Where would you want to go to on a journey through Texas? What sites would you recommend?
