  1. Group 1 Put 50 mL of vinegar in the bottle and a scoop of baking soda on the paper. Obtain the mass of the bottle, bottle cap, vinegar, baking soda and paper. Add the baking soda and the paper dish to the bottle with vinegar and quickly put the cap on the bottle. Let the reaction take place and obtain the mass of all items after the reaction. Make observations.

Group 2 • Obtain a cookie and a plastic baggie. • Get the mass of the cookie and baggie. • Place the cookie in the baggie and gently crush it up. • Predict what happens to the mass after the cookie has been crushed. • Place the baggie with the crushed cookie back on the scale and get the mass again. • Make observations

Group 3 • Obtain two cubes of ice and a plastic baggie. • Get the mass of the ice and baggie. • Place the cubes of ice in the baggie and use your hands to melt the ice. • Predict the mass of the melted ice in the baggie. • Place the baggie with the melted ice back on the scale and get the mass. • Make observations

Group 4 • Measure 100 ml of water and place in the container. • Place Alka Seltzer tablet on paper dish and measure the mass of the Alka Seltzer tablet, paper dish, container with water and the lid. • Place the Alka Seltzer tablet in the container and quickly place the lid on. • Predict what happens to the total mass. • Place the container and paper dish back on the scale after all the Alka Seltzer has disappeared. • Make observations

Group 5 • Measure 50 ml of water in a cup. • Obtain one scoop of sugar on paper dish. • Measure the mass of the sugar, water, cup, and paper dish. • Mix the sugar in the water and stir so that the sugar dissolves. • Predict the mass of the sugar water, cup and paper dish. • Measure the mass of the cup, sugar water, and paper dish. • Make observations

Group 6 • Place a small half scoop of baking soda and a small half scoop of calcium chloride on paper dish. • Measure the mass of bottle with cap and 50 ml of water, along with the paper dish containing baking soda and calcium chloride. • Add baking soda and calcium chloride to bottle and close quickly. Let reaction take place. • Predict the mass bottle. • Measure the mass of the bottle and paper dish. • Make observations

  7. Group 7 • Open the container of playdoh. • Roll the playdoh into a nice round ball. • Measure the mass of the round ball. • Remove the playdoh from the scale and make a thin snake. • Predict the mass of the snake. • Measure the mass of the snake. • Make observations.

  8. Group 8 • Place 10ml of vinegar in a graduated cylinder. • Place 10ml of milk in the other graduated cylinder. • Measure the mass of the cup, test tube, and two graduated cylinders containing the liquids. • Pour the milk and the vinegar into the test tube. • Let the reaction take place. • Predict the mass. • Measure the mass of the cup, test tube, and two graduated cylinders. • Make observation.
