  • APEDA, Ministry of Commerce –

    • National Program on Organic Production (NPOP), Govt of India, since 2001National Standards: NSOP- Acquired status of equivalence with EU and NOP standards.

    • Stringent accreditation norms and strict monitoring

    • Strong traceability - Tracenet

  • Min of Agriculture – promotional schemes – Small farmers

  • 15 states formulated/ formulating its own Organic farming Policies, since 2004

1. Profitability of small farmers will have increased by reducing input costs.

State benefited by savings on fertilizers

2. Organic agribusiness – An attractive opportunity for educated youth of the state-

  • Creates a variety of job opportunities in the organic agribusiness sector, (e.g. post harvest handling, marketing of the products).

  • Develop Bio Villages, Organic Villages for agro tourism, as part of the tourism development strategy of the state. The strategy will help convert organics into services with high value addition.
