  1. Motorization Site and Troubleshooting Tips One Motor all the Benefits by Somfy Total Home Automation by Somfy Control the Whole House with Somfy

  2. Motorization Site Considerations • Type of window treatment • Size, outside or inside mount - depth of window gutter space • motor on left or right • reverse roll • what is most important issue with client – quiet operation, automatic operation, no wires showing, etc. • Power • how far is closes power outlet located from motor location, how many outlets are located at that location • does the window have casing, can wire be run behind it • low voltage 2 conductor cable home run from each window • are any high powered antennas visible outside • does the dealer or client have an electrician available, is client willing to have electrical power outlet put in place • where is control room located, what power is available for use, what space is available for window treatment power distribution • Control • handheld remote control(s), wireless wall switch locations • where does the client want to be while controlling each window treatments, how far are the window treatments from that location • are there any elevator shafts, large metal structural beams or metal roofing • where are extra, unused, power outlets located • individual, group, both, timed operation, sun sensor • home integration system – manufacture make, model, operational outside of integration system • integration system protocol – RS485, 232, DCT, IR. wired for integration throughout, with what • is the integration system already installed, who installed/will install the system • dealer/company name and actual integration that will program the system • has integrator included window treatment programming into his labor cost

  3. Motor Troubleshooting Tips - Power • Power • New batteries (AA Lithium) -End cap covers must be screwed on tightly and installed correctly • Transformer must be regulated with correct voltage and current • Solar battery must be fully charged before installation using the plug in charger • Make sure outlet is working properly. • Wiring must be correct polarity, gauge for the distance, voltage and current • Check Outlet (Plug another appliance into the same outlet to make sure there is power. GFI outlet? • Extension cord for AC motors must be 3 prong grounded type • Splices must be mechanically and electrically sound. • Correct channel assigned on the Telis or Decoflex. • DecoFlex channel highlighted. • Does LED indicator illuminate when RTS signal is sent? Check each channel. • Press the up and down buttons simultaneously to see if you can wake up (communicate with the motor using the transmitter) the motor, • This will only be done if you have no initial response with the up or down direction button. • Holding down the program button on the back of the Telis Remote for 5 sec to wake up the motor, the motor will jog. • On a Decoflex wall switch, insert a paper clip into the programming button (hole next to the up and down buttons) until motor jogs. • Reset the motor (erase its memory, set to factory mode). • Motor does not jog after being reset • Motor may already be in factory mode • Press UP and DOWN and the motor will jog

  4. Troubleshooting Tips – RTS Control • RTS • Make sure you are on the correct channel • Make sure the antenna is free from obstructions • Make sure there is no inside/outside interference • DecoFlex wall controls must be pressed twice when used with battery powered motors • RTS Sensor • Solar battery must be fully charged before installation using the plug in charger • Make sure outlet is working properly • Make sure batteries are installed correctly • Sensor will override all other RTS devices (i.e. Telis and DecoFlex) shortly after window treatment stops moving • Sensor must be mounted in the correct location • Sensor must be programmed into the motors memory to test and operate • Sensor sends motor in the wrong direction if the motor was programmed in the reverse direction

  5. Troubleshooting Tips – Mechanical and Misc. • Mechanical • The fabric must be rolling from the top of the roller tube – Limits could be incorrectly set • There must be no obstruction when setting limits – Over torque protection in motor could trigger and limit physical location of limits • Mounting brackets must be mounted to correct width – tight or loose can effect motor operation and sound level • Misc. Tips • Make sure the fabric is rolling off the top of the roller or the limits will not set correctly • Make sure power cord is not cut shorter than 3 ft • Make sure light is blinking when pressing program button
