  1. Pajama Pants Introduction Day! Please go get your Pajama Pants Packages from your totes! If you do not have your materials yet, please come see me for them!! Be ready as soon as the bell rings

  2. Take out your Pajama Pants Packages and open them up…be careful not to lose any pieces! Write your initials and period # on your pattern pieces! Keep them safe in your totes

  3. Haan Craft Layout & Cutting Directions Manual • Choose your size: Before you begin making any cuts of the pattern, if you are still unsure about your size, you can measure your hips and side length of your legs to check! *Demo of hip & leg measurements*

  4. Haan Craft Layout and Cutting Directions Manual #2) Understanding Pattern Symbols • Notches: • Pocket placement: ---------------- • Grainline Arrow • Place on Fold: • Shorten or lengthen here:

  5. Haan Craft Layout and Cutting Directions Manual #3) Length Adjustments: To shorten, you would fold the pattern at the adjustment lines however many inches you need to shorten by. To lengthen, you need to cut on those adjustment lines and add paper in- between. ***In both cases you need to adjust the pattern size lines to now match the adjustments!!*** Ask Me How To Measure This!

  6. Haan Craft Layout and Cutting Directions Manual #4) Preparing the Fabric : Match the selvage edges… What are the selvage edges again?! Anytime your pattern tells you to lay yout piece along the grainline…it wants you to line your pattern piece parallel to the SELVAGE If you find the edges are all not lining up, you can pull on the diagonals and stretch the fabric back on the grainline.

  7. Haan Craft Layout and Cutting Directions Manual #5) Layout: The fabric should be folded so it is longer than it is wider(hotdog way). Notice the word “fold” and “selvage”, use this picture as a guide when your setting up your fabric! Just LAY the pattern out, don’t pin until it is on the grainline… which I will demo next…

  8. Grainline Demo! The grainline runs LENGTHWISE on the fabric, PARALLEL to the selvage You have to measure from the grainline to the edge of the fabric…all the way down the grainline, from top to bottom. It needs to measure the same distance the whole way! Pin grainline first as you measure, and then pin the rest of the pattern piece down. If the pattern is not on the grainline…it can stretch awkwardly when sewn and the pattern of the fabric will not match nicely! ***Grainline is all about accurate fit/drape to the body and matching fabric patterns***

  9. Pin this FIRST!!

  10. Pinning Demo Match front to back…you will label an F and B on each piece. The pattern pieces say “Front” and “Back” but you eventually take the patterns off so you need to be able to distinguish them. You should have 2 Fs and 2 Bs! Pin NOTCHES FIRST! Then pin the top, bottom, and middle. Fill pins in-between last. Pin heads face OUT

  11. Haan Craft Layout and Cutting Directions Manual #6 and 7) Cutting and Marking: Cut along the size lines you highlighted on the OUTSIDE of the black lines. Your marking the black side of the pattern NOT the red. Red=STOP The only marking needed is for the back pocket, mark this with a tracing wheel and tracing paper before removing the pattern.

  12. Make sure you highlight and cut your notch or you may have…

  13. Not Pictured: Your Back Pocket! Make sure you pin and cut that pattern piece out as well!

  14. Directions Checklist and Rubric Let’s go through the directions and rubric briefly You will turn both these in at the end so hold on to them. You will use the directions/checklist the ENTIRE time, checking off as you go and turning it in for points at the end of the project

  15. Almost! Bullseye! Needs Improvement!
