  1. Lab: Making Magnesium Oxide

  2. Hypothesis: relate to mass & include a chemical equation to show the formation of the product.

  3. Materials: crucible + lid; pipe-clay-triangle; guaze; clamp + stand; Bunsen burner; striker; tongs; safety goggles; balance. • Safety: two sentences

  4. Procedure: • Weigh empty crucible. • Add Mg & weigh again. • Put lid on crucible & heat for 10 minutes. Regularly allow air in. • Cool & re-weigh.

  5. Observations: data table of mass before & after, remember units.

  6. Analysis: I'll give you some hypothetical results & show you how to do this!

  7. Conclusion: • was your hypothesis correct • explain what were the limitations/causes of error in this lab. • how could it be improved.
