TRAINING IN THE USE OF TOOLS FOR LOCATION OF UNDERGROUND SERVICES IS ESSENTIAL

Unless you happen to be a roofing contractor, almost every construction project will begin with digging down in the surface of the earth in order to create the foundations of a building and install services underground. In fact, with the possible exception of telegraph poles and TV signals, virtually every other service that we will require is underground. Out of sight and in most cases out of mind.

2. 08442412597 enquiries@sygma-solutions.com Unless you happen to be a roofing contractor, almost every construction project will begin with digging down in the surface of the earth in order to create the foundations of a building and install services underground. In fact, with the possible exception of telegraph poles and TV signals, virtually every other service that we will require is underground. Out of sight and in most cases out of mind. While that is a good thing for most of the time, if you happen to need to commence any sort of digging, it then becomes an issue because you don’t know what, if any services exist where you need to dig. So, before you commence the work, the first thing to do is to check for underground services in that particular location, and that is where the fun starts.

 3. 08442412597 enquiries@sygma-solutions.com Various Tools So, once you have done that, the next step is to use the various tools that are available in order to physically locate and identify underground services on the site. There are several tools that can be used for the location of underground services, but you must first understand that they have certain limitations. It follows that you need to understand what those limitations are, because if you don’t, you could be under the impression that there are no services on the site where you need to dig, and then get a very nasty surprise. For example, some tools can only detect radio signals from metallic pipes, so if gas or water is running in a plastic pipe it won’t show them. Some can only locate an electricity cable when there is electricity flowing through it, so if, for example, it is during the day and the streetlights are off, the cable supplying those lights will not show up. That doesn’t mean there is nothing there!

 4. 08442412597 enquiries@sygma-solutions.com These are all reasons why operative who need to locate these services need the proper training that we provide at Sygma Solutions. So, for example, we provide Mala RD7000 training and RD8000 training. The RD8000 training covers the latest series of locators from Mala, including the RD8100 which includes Power Filters™ so that you can now establish if a signal comes from one source, or from multiple cables, and then trace and mark their routes. All of these things are essential knowledge and are taught in the trainings we provide.
