  3. Process • School registers with NSSE in Aug-Sept for administration following spring • School elects to use AAUDE optional questions or not • School pays for basic, for optional Q’s, for any oversamples. Basic: freshmen, seniors • School sends eligible populations; NSSE samples

Process - 2 • NSSE in touch with Lou, Lou with schools • Lou asks all AAU’s for multi-year data sharing permission • Independent of use of AAUDE optional Q’s • Records are posted: Participants by year, if optional Q’s, agreements on file • http://www.colorado.edu/pba/surveys/nsse-aaude/Partic.xls

  5. Process - 3 • NSSE sends to Colorado, in ~August • Response-level data from AAUDE schools with data sharing agreements in place • Metadata on populations, samples • Colorado adds to multi-year SAS dataset, augments user guide, posts, notifies

  6. Participation ’05 – ’09 • All public AAU’s in the US except UC • All sharing data except Penn State • Privates • Sharing: Case, Syracuse, Tulane • Not sharing: CMU, Emory, Rice • 2008 – 19,200 shared responses from 13 schools, plus 1500 responses from targeted samples

  10. 2009 • 16 schools including 3 privates • 13 are using AAUDE questions • UNC using NSSE writing consortium questions • (http://comppile.org/wpa+nsse/test/index.htm) • Pilot: CU-Boulder split samples for both AAUDE and writing-consortium questions
