1. LOCATION- ”Where is it?” A. Absolute location: the position of a particular place. Ex. The absolute location of Corpus Christi is 27.5 degrees North and 97.5 degrees West.
B. Relative location: the relationship of one place to another. Ex. Corpus Christi is 130 miles southeast of San Antonio on the gulf coast. Ex. My church is located on Leopard between the McDonalds and Taco Bell.
2. PLACE: “WHAT IS IT LIKE THERE?” • The special physical or human features that distinguishes it from other places. • Ex. There are many giant skyscrapers in New York City.
EX. Tourism is big business in Corpus Christi because of the warm climate and access to the Gulf of Mexico and its many beaches.
3. HUMAN/ENVIRONMENTAL INTERACTION “What is the relationship between people and their environment?”
4. MOVEMENT- “How are people, places, things, and ideas connected?”
5. REGION- “How is the world divided?” Areas that are defined by unifying characteristics, either physical or human
