  2. Before advertising opportunities • Check Job descriptions and contact details correct • Be Birmingham visit to premises • Employer to decide either: • Set maximum number of candidates required and cut off date • Or interview/meet with each one as and when they are interested

  3. Advertising the opportunity • Be Birmingham send details to JCP • JCP to check legalities • JCP to put opportunities on system and brief advisors

  4. Eligibility Under 24 years old – • Must be on Job Seekers Allowance • Must have been claiming between 38 weeks and 51 weeks Over 24 years old – • Must be on an working Age benefit (JSA, ESA, IS, IB, etc) • Must have been claiming between 38 and 51 weeks • Must live in a priority neighbourhood

  5. Job Centre Plus Advisor role • Advisors see individual clients • Eligible clients introduced to FJF opportunities • Advisers will discuss suitable FJF vacancies with the customer • Advisor to make contact with employers

  6. From benefits to employment • Employer will arrange to interview the applicant as part of your usual recruitment process • After the interviews, the employer will decide which applicant has been successful and inform both JCP and Be Birmingham (form in pack) • Employer to follow own contract and employment procedures

  7. Timescales • From SLA/COGA being signed to JCP opportunity advertised – 2 weeks maximum • From JCP opportunity advertised to the eligible customer – depends on number of vacancies advertised or the time limited the employer has stipulated. Estimated average 4-6 weeks. • From interested client to employee status – Depends on employers own processes, whether there is application process, etc

  8. If you know potential clients… • Volunteers, clients, other • JCP to offer telephone line to check eligibility • Those eligible to make appointment with JCP advisor • JCP advisor to follow same process as above

  9. Employers responsibility • Liaise with JCP re interview process required • Meet applicants at convenient time • Keep records of successful and unsuccessful interviews • Send Employee form to Be Birmingham when job offered • Inform JCP of job offer
