People across the globe celebrate the Earth Day on 22nd April every year. World Earth Day is observed to encourage people to maintain an environment-friendly planet. “The first Earth Day was established by US Senator Gaylord Nelson in 1970. The idea was conceived by peace activist John McConnell in 1969,” informs Vaikundarajan.

  4. To celebrate the Earth Day, popular search engine Google showcased fascinating paintings of natural landscapes around the world through Google Doodle. http://vaikundarajans.blogspot.in

  5. The doodle covers five major biomes of Earth: the tundra, forest, grasslands, desert and coral reefs. In each illustration, one animal is singled out. These animals are: polar bear, fox, elephant, tortoise and octopus. http://vaikundarajans.wordpress.com

  6. Every year, this day aims at raising public awareness of environmental issues by devoting a day to environmental events and education. Since its inception, this day has spread to nearly 200 countries and is actively celebrated by millions of people across the world.   7. To create an environment friendly planet, a historic agreement called the Paris Agreement on climate change will be signed by 130 countries on 22nd April. The agreement will be open for signature for one year from Earth Day. Vaikundarajan wishes his fans a happy Earth Day and urges everyone to observe it not just once a year but every day. “It is important we take care of our earth for the betterment of future generation.
